Hey:) well it’s optional really as it’s just a cab IR loader. So, I don’t think I’d put it in an effects loop as that would put it after the preamp but before the power amp section in most amps. So in this case it would make sense to put it after the amp but before any interface / mixing desk. It’s great for things like a silent set up with a preamp pedal eg Strymon iridium or similar when you want to use different cabs or with other amp in a box style pedals. If thinking about mod delay verb etc, I’d generally place it after them. But many people might place time based effects after. Think about a studio sound where you might mix delay and verb after the recorded guitar amp. I think best is just to try different things and see what you like:)
I finally got the Joyo Cab Box and I love it. Onr thing I have yet to see and hear about in every single review, is how awesome the built in IRs sound once you disable the built in Graphic EQ. Could you please checkout out? Especially my ultra favorite preset for the Matchless ChiefTain. The preset came alive when I turned off the Graphic EQ. I did enable the Parametric EQ and only applied the low and high filters to taste. Do you have an idea why all the built in presets have the Graphic EQ enabled? They sound as if they have a blanket over the sound. Sorry for long post but grateful for your video!
No issues about the post. Really appreciate it and the details. Yes, I thought it strange the EQ is on everything and turned it off in general also! Joyo have not let me know why they included it as part of the presets. It’s great you pointed it out here though and hopefully others will benefit from your help. 🙏 😊
@@samgoffenguitarI was thinking the same. One thought was perhaps for people going straight into the Cab Box and to the studio? I have mine last on my pedalboard that I use for playing live at church. I placed my reverbs and delays before the Cabbox as well as the Volume pedal. Also using the joyo American Sound pedal as my Preamp pedal and before that, I have the Joyo King of kings pedal as my Overdrive pedal for OD and leads. So all my EQ is happening on my Preamp pedal and OD pedals. No wonder when I installed third party IRs they sounded so awesome! They already come EQ'd and wondered wondered why the Joyo IRs sounded like they had blanket over them until I disabled the EQ! Thanks for your great videos!
@@musicman4christjesus hehe sounds like you solved the issue:) it’s a great box for sure once you find some irs you love. Aren’t Joyo bringing out some great stuff ? Love the king of kings pedal too:)
So is this what you’d need to play a tube head through studio monitors? And how would you connect to them im guessing the 1/4 output into the mono input of the monitor?
You could use it like that yes. But be careful, you’d need a load box. You can’t just connect a traditional tube amp to this from the speaker out of the amp.
Aside from the Mac comment I didn't understand your 'cons' section: "Some similar products have amp sims too, but tend to cost more." And "One of the more expensive Joyo pedals, but still very competitive" How are those cons?
Thx for the comment. They aren’t really. I couldn’t find any real cons to be honest. It is expensive, you might just use a plug in that can load IRs which I actually do when recording rather than using this. No real cons:)
Really depends on what pedals you’re using. This is just for cab IRs and does not have in built amp sims though. I use a Jackson audio twin twelve pedal and that’s great as over drive or a preamp style pedal for example:)
@@Lopezaaronn good question again. The power amp section just acts as another way to colour the sound really. I’d think about it like this: most people would want an amp sim to provide the break up ie over drive or distortion. The power amp section of the pedal won’t do that. You could certainly try an over drive pedal straight into the Cab Box and that would probably sound decent.
@@samgoffenguitar I have a Behringer GDI21 modeler pedal. It has the power amp sims built in.. California, British and Tweed. I cannot turn those off but I can turn off the mic sim for the pedal. Now with this pedal I would turn the amp sims on the Joyo off. If I ran a normal distortion pedal/preamp I would leave them on.
@@endlessnameless01 joyo have been releasing products pretty relentlessly, so I’m not sure if they’ll have spent much time developing pre-existing ones tbh.
