You've been a super helpful resource foe me Elmo, thanks. Last night I watched your JHS Paul Gilbert demo/review. I'm getting into that kind of stuff now. Really enjoyed it and liked that you played it next to one of your existing favourites - something that is probably fairly commonly valued and recognisable pedal and sound. Was also cool to hear something relatively niche played by you - I'd love to watch more of that kind of stuff along with these new demos. Also are you considering getting your teachers degree/certificate/thing. Never too late man. I've been the older guy in class and will be again All the best ✌️
You should not be hesitant to create paid demos, either you can get a piece of gear to sound good or you can't. Everybody paints their own picture with what's available to them and you provide a valuable service by showing what is possible. Again thanks for all you do for the guitar community!
Demos and facts are still super useful. There are many different amps out there and even just seeing a demo gives someone an idea if they want to go check it out in a store. Great sounding amp, great playing! Like that I can clearly see the amp settings while you're playing.
Hey, Elmo. Been genuinely enjoying your reviews for quite some time, now, and actually "exploiting" the experiences you shared through the years (got myself an impressively good Eart pseudo-Strat after your review on that, modded it to my taste - just the PUs). The personal story you shared on your channel, explaining why the "sudden" need to monetize your videos, is something that, in my totally humble opinion, finally sends back a good deal of humanity from a category - youtubers/reviewers - which is often perceived with some obscure mistrust by all us musicians (is he/she saying all this for money? Should I trust him/her? What the hell am I even doin' here on her/his channel at 3 o'clock in the morning? And so on...). Just wanted to share - really just a mere message among hundreds of others - my sincere solidarity with your situation and my ethical support. I honestly think many people here - proper followers or "ritual bumpers" like me - have known at least your public "persona" (in the Ingmar Bergman's sense of the term) to keep enjoying your activity on the channel not one bit less than before. I'll keep hitting play 'cause you play good (I also mean your own music production) and you always manage to sound authentic and honest. You kinda deserve to make some money out of what you do here, regardless of any mishaps life may present. All the best, man.
There's nothing wrong with sponsored demos as long as you're honest and open about it. Some companies might even appreciate constructive criticism as long as it's reasonable and informative.
You mean as long as it's not *too* informative, and reasonable. There was a reviewer who mentioned one of Orange's amps having tone controls with 'limited range,' and the Gain being 'not there' until 11 o'clock. I guess I don't have to tell you what happened.
I own the Jackman II and if I could afford to own every one of these Bantamps, I wouldn't hesitate to. They punch way above the competition at their price point, are loud, take pedals great, the Bluetooth sounds great, headphone jack sounds good, and if you're really having a hard time getting a tone you like, an EQ pedal in the Effects loop solves that instantly.
I'm considering my first Bantamp purchase, after striking out with the Orange Dual Terror. I thought I could tame that beast, and I couldn't. LOL I use a one humbucker guitar, so I understand crystal-clear chimey sounds are not necessarily in my wheelhouse, but I'd like a clean tone that doesn't sound completely underwater. Do you think the Jackman II can provide some good cleans?
I fully support you! There is always a way to cover your needs and keep your integrity, and I believe that you are that kind of person who can achieve both! Be well, dear Elmo! Love your work!
I've had the Joyo JaCkMan II for about 6 months, and it's outrageously good. Hooked up to a 2x12 w/ Celestion Greenbacks and WOW. And it takes pedals really well, w/ the effects loop.
I've really enjoyed your channel for ages mate. Sorry to hear about the job. Your channel is great, and i know we all appreciate your opinions and reviews. Monetise where you need to mate. You have plenty of support out here in viewer land
I always enjoy hearing your opinions my friend, and you include a little demo of whatever you’re reviewing anyway. When you’re stepping through a product with so many features like this one, I guess a demo makes more sense or your videos would be 2 hours long. 😉 Anyway, for the price this thing has an amazing number of features. All that hiss on the OD channel is annoying, but as you’ve said a noise gate should help clear that up. Perhaps it’s just the nature of the beast when it comes to valve amps. Pedals or no pedals, even my Marshall combo hisses a bit with the Ultra Gain channel active, especially on its OD2 setting which is insane to begin with.
Doing demo's is crucial for consumers as long as the demo is HONEST and UNBIASED like your channel! Otherwise people would end up buying mucho junk because someone deom'd it dishonestly, claiming its better than it is because they received it for free for doing the review.
Enjoyed the video! I've owned a tweedy for a while now, and greatly enjoy it for playing at home at a modest volume, but it has plenty more on tap if you need to get loud. The only thing I wish it had was a simple digital spring reverb, to save me having to plug into the effects loop. Having said all that, while I understand you want to stay impartial in this "demo", I wouldn't mind hearing your subjective opinions on the amp. If you're concerned about impartiality, maybe just make a quick hit video following on to give opinions on it after the demo? I don't think any regulars here would accuse you of being a shill for anybody given all the good info you've provided the guitar community.
It sounds really versatile. At least over RU-vid and through my computer and headphones. I would have to hear it in person to really make a decision, but it hasn't pissed me off so far. I'm glad you demonstrated it. What speakers were you using with it? It's admirable that you warn us that the unit was supplied to you by the manufacturer. A lot of "content creators" don't bother to do that.
Not bad at all.. I was just looking at some of these, I think one was called. The zombie or something like that and the other was the meteor if I remember correctly? Look like there made to compete with the orange micro etc..
I really like Joyo products and have the Zombie II amp which is supposed to be based on a Mesa Boogie. These little BanTamps pack quite a punch for their size and I'm pretty impressed with the one I have. I've since gone ampless and have the Joyo Cab Box and Joyo Preamp House which I'm really enjoying. All I need to do now is learn to play guitar :)
Elmo, your reviews are always awesome and you know what, the demos are badass too. I think anyone watching the channel understands you've gotta eat, brother. Your sharing a very personal development in your situation was very moving and your real fans will get it when you do what you have to do for you and your family. Keep the vids coming. Whether it's a demo, review, lesson, doesn't matter it's always a pleasure. That Tweedy sounded pretty good although definitely harsh with the gain maxed. I had the Zombie 2nd I actually regret getting rid of that one but my tastes have changed a bit and ultra high gain is a once in a while thing now. I'm really interested in the Jackman 2. Be well and cheers!
Well... It sure sounded good to me! It's not really a "tweed" amp, but the demo certainly sounded a lot like my Traynor YCV40WR, which is a "tweedy" 2-channel amp, right down the somewhat-fuzzy but still silky-smooth medium-gain sounds. Nothing wrong with a paid raw demo presented this way to pay the bills. Keep it up!
Since we can't touch it or really hear it in the room the same way you can, it's great if you can give some opinion on how things feel quality wise and how it sounds to you in person. Maybe you can do both, demo and deeper dive review. Looking at other channels they tend to get a ton more views on the gear review, but the demo portion seems to help drive interest in the review if the demo is released first. Good luck and thanks for the great content
I respect that you said from the very start that this was sponsored. I see it as you're giving us the viewers a trial run of the amp. Especially since most of us that subscribe to your channel are familiar with your sound and style, and preference of gear. Just curious though, what is the amp going through? Speaker wise I mean. I have no experience with the itty bitty amps. Lol
I am assuming then by the sound, name and description that it is Fender-ish simulation. Possibly a Fender Tweed Deluxe or something along that line of thought. I have a couple of Joyo products. They are usually quite good for the price. I have yet to return or sell any of the Joyo products that I have purchased and used. I own four of the products on your recamend / use lists. Thank you for all the work that you do.
Great demo. Love these and It makes me curious to try one. I love my Joyo American Sound pedal. I don't think you mentioned what cab/speakers you are playing it through. That would be super helpful to know. Can you please share? Rock on and keep feeding yourself and family!!!
Hi Elmo, You made it very clear this amp was sent to you so, I say give us your thoughts, if you think any particular features are good or bad. IMO it will add to the appeal of your video's and I'm sure most viewers would like to hear your thoughts.
The controls definitely do not have fully usable ranges. You have to fiddle with them to get usable sounds. The one thing that I don't care about is the form factor. Like it or not, aesthetics matter.
I have the AtomiC AC30 version and it's really good. It's as close a clone of a vintage Vox that I've heard, so dinky and packs a surprising punch when paired with a cab.
Great Job on demo I think that the tweedy was made to make your pedals sound cool. By itself it doesn’t really cut it . But the tube circuit made your overdrive sound good even on You Tube!
I think you already know your fans will think what they’re gonna think, but at the end of the day you have a family! That being said, I can see it’s difficult for you to not go “uummmmm, no! Just, …… no!” Hahahaha, but honestly that little amp is kind of surprising! Thanks for sharing as always bro! Peace and love to you and yours!
such a cute little amp i love the design and name, multichannel, blutooth and an fx loop thats just crazy. i could see getting one just to lone to friends to jam on very cool.
@@Potatoenfuego I'm pretty sure the blutooth bypasses the gain and fx sections on the amp so you can dial up a clean drum loop or jam track i use blutooth in my yamaha amp to jam over top 40 songs at parties and stuff its way better than playing to a metronome or just running scales in the corner like i did for years.
@@Potatoenfuego Maybe you got a bad unit? I don't actually have a joyo amp but i have seen other videos of the blutooth feature maybe the QC on these is shit.
So it's a tube in the preamp section, and solid state otherwise? That clean sound in the beginning sounded pretty good, Fender-y. I'm also writing this so more people will send you stuff to demo...new career.
Very plexi sounding. Wow. As everyone should know , a plexiglass is VERY clean till fully cranked. Wow, I really like it. Sounds killer with the overdrive! WOW!! Thanks for posting this! Now I WANT ONE!!! It sounds like a plexi! What overdrive did you use? :) It if had a an eq.. it would be perfect.. What is your opinion, Elmo?
You're the only person who had a representative review of the Yamaha THR, I should have listened to you- sold it- terrible amp! Just keep honest man and it's all good- make your money :) Would love you to have a play with a Boss gx-100 and hear your thoughts as I'm considering one atm for an easy open mic rig.
I’m excited for your content now that you’re doing it full time. I really think you’ll be up there with A lot of the bigger channels. You’re a great musician with some super valid opinions and provide some very good informative content. Great video as always 👍
Sounded pretty good...certainly for what I would use it for which is home use. Home amps aren't necessarily any good for playing live and the opposite is true IMHO.
I really like my Zombie amp, I wish I’d have waited for the two channel version. Great lil amps for trying new amp flavors without breaking the budget. They also ( when paired with a full range speaker) make an awesome Bluetooth amp.
On the subject of "reviews vs. demos," You could do what some other reputable channels do and only demo good quality stuff. Then we can infer that if you demo something, it's probably a good product. Just a thought.
I got the Hotone Mojo Diamond( Fender Tweed) head to put on top of a 1- 12 Celesion speaker cab. Only cost me $60. Wonder how it would compare. Mines only 5 watts S S.
I got the Joyo DC 15S that you weren't so impressed with. Tbh I haven't used it a lot but I take it with me to buy used guitars from people on Facebook with. It's convenient small and battery powered so it does have it's place. Think about the street performer or Hippy on a blanket in the park.
Sure, why not take sponsors, as long as you're giving an honest opinion/review, that's what people are looking for when considering buying. I didn't really see much of a review here, just the demo. Is a review coming in another video?
This was most cool! Do as many sponsored videos as you like. I welcome them. Maybe you don't want to give any cons about sponsored products but can you give the pros about the products that you review?
I think a lot of people don't realize that when a company sends a reviewer a device, they could've made it with different (and much better) quality materials than the version that's mass produced. Nobody wants to be Negative Ned, but It's something that has to be considered. That said, the amplifier they gave you sounds awesome. But I don't think an amp _can_ sound bad in your hands!
It sounds just as good . This is one of those things we’re it’s the process that throws you off but keep in mind orange makes the tiny terror series that sounds good
Man, come on!!! To get paid for your work is absolutely normal, and it doesn't have nothing to do with your massive honesty. In fact, a good firm should give value to that , and improve their products if something it's not great. Keep on!!! And go accept these job opportunities!!!! ❤🎉
Just make the gear sound good and find it’s place. I like the dirty sound enough. Totally useable if a bit noisy. Joyo makes good affordable stuff. Some of it is great. Cool demo, Elmo.
Elmo, Sir... you are a tremendous guitarist... and a likable personality... but consider perhaps adding some new riffs to the demo's and reviews... spice it up a bit with some vintage classics!
We will have to judge how much you like it based on how much you seem to enjoy playing through it. I really don't mind if you give your opinion also were you playing through a 4 12 that matters a lot s like how the speakers are voiced
I really liked this video, it is something else, but somehow different can be good. I had a look at the Joyo when I was looking for a small practice amp, but in the end I got the Bugera T5 Infinium. You can squeeze some good tones out of it (Joyo), but can't say, as a whole, it's perfect. I like valve, and in my book if something does to many things, it ends up doing all of them not so good (not wanting to say badly). To my ears it felt way too saturated, slightly darker here in there, and because I've been listening to your guitar a few times, I was under the impression it made your guitar sounded .. mediocre (which is not, because, as I said, I think I know your guitar by now). Again, if you want to spend a few bucks (doesn't matter the currency) and you need something to practice .. I guess it's a good compromise.
Elmo can you please help me. I have this amp and I love clean chanel bit I want to use OD chenel for metal What overdrive or distortion do you recommend something on budget
Reminds me very much of my very first valve amp (which is a good thing). Not a lot to mess around with but with enough gain and hiss and spit to make life interesting. Only issue is that it is too small to give regular kicks to !
Great video! You don’t necessarily have to give your opinions in order to make a good video. Simple observations like “dark” or “light weight” will let people make their own judgments. Providing specs, demos, etc. is all valuable stuff. Now go get something to eat!
I dont care if you buy all the stuff or brands send them to you. I trust every fucking word you say. More than jesus. I hope you will do better soon. Thx for all elmo!
That sounds like a great little amp especially for the price tag ! I'm old enough to remember what €150 bought you in the late 80s and into the 90s and it definitely didn't sound like this ! 😂
I were thinking buying this a bit earlyer. However i think its too muddy for my taste for tweedy amp. But price is just so cheap on these ones so its quite hard to pass....
Salut Elmo ! 👌cheers for your cool & vidéos ! 🤘😁 Could you please HELP me to make a choice : JOYO JACKMAN 2 OR JOYO TWEEDY 2 (for a versatile player-blues/rock/punk/grunge/hard..) 🙏 merci
you should reconsider about not giving your opinion that is the most important reason for watching your videos there has to be a way to work out an agreement with the manufacturer or just review the ones you like and send back the ones you don't or what the gear is good for even if you wouldn't use it for your particular style of playing, maybe its good for a different style,if you hate it don't review it. but your opinion is important.
It sounds ok, but the unit is small, would you swap your phone or car for something small, No, I got an Iron man digital delay, works ok, but I prefer the stable and bigger size, as you get older better to see. But is OK just like bigger size.
Hey Elmo! can you get an offer to say things about the gear you demo, DO IT. Kinda boring without your thoughts, man. Best regards from a fellow musician and gearhead. would love to hear your thoughts on the stuff you demo. The review is half or more of the thing. SO from my point of view, this was sounding so, so. nothing more. Best sound on cleaner sound. maybe a home pedal amp. nothing more. Peace, bro!
Eating is good! Great demo. Amp seems decent, especially for the money. I only play at home so something like this is ideal for me. Demo rather than review was still good. You need to do what you need to do.
Elmo, I think the demos are a good way of giving your subscribers a flavour of the equipment and perhaps later down the line, you could purchase some of the kit you have demonstrated and give it a full review. But keep up the good work.
Sounds "Tweedy". A bit "muffled". But absolut usefull. I think you can do a demo, and not a review, and it would still have value. Becuse with your integrity the demo would still be honest. You show everything and people can make there own opinion. Hm.. It does high gain suprinsingly good. See, you showed me. 😀
Sounds too harsh, then muddy, sounds too much like an old solid state that you couldn't wait to get rid once you could afford a screamen tube amp. Channel 2 seems better, but not much.
