Thanks, this is what was missing into the aescript videos. I had trouble with hair, the switch is still not perfect but this is better than using opacity.
Thanks for the tutorial. How would Puppet Tool (for the hand) work with stacking? Does it works the same? I did a few test myself, but there are problems when it comes to duplicating the arms for the stacking process.
Thanks for the video, but i have a trouble, when i want to create the jostick appears a message thay say "no properties in your selected layers are ready to be connected to a joystick" i dont know how to solve this. I would appreciate so much your help.
Make sure to add keyframes to All properties of the asset you're trying to rig, from frame 0 to frame 4 (5 frames total). Even if it doesn't change in 2 or 3 of those keyframe sets you still need to have keys there.
I know many have used this method for ears on the head. the process is the same just with ears instead of arms. If you have more details on what isn't working I can help.
Okay, I understand. You can adjust where your ears swap by moving their placement around in the template comps. So by moving the ears in the left Switch Template to the left a bit, then moving the ears in the right Switch Template to the right, your ears should rest behind the head in the origin pose. How far you move them in the template will determine where the switch happens when you move your joystick.
This tut was made with an earlier version of Joysticks 'n Sliders. The functionality is all there, the UI just looks a bit different. Here's the section on using Switch Templates in 1.5 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Fi-FHnjU5ds.html
I finally did some tests with Rubber Hose and this method. Create your front/back duplicate arms by creating new linked hoses. That will give you identical hoses for the front and back arms. In your switch templates, instead of copy/pasting the actual hose shape layer (which will give you expression errors) you can create nulls and give those nulls the names of your hose shape layers. Switch templates work by matching layer names, so the items in your templates only have to match items in your main comp by name.
Thanks Mike very nice tutorial. It seems you have not designed this for rookie animators like me as it is not mentioned that how and from where one can get joysticks and slider window. Can we do this body hand animation without Joystick...please help.
