Many concepts of grooves, chops, licks, ideas all smashed into one. But done tastefully, so there is a storytelling process from start to finish. Like he mentioned, tension, release and all those components of randomness just spices things up. Bloody amazing.

Started following JP a while ago and the things he does with his drumming is something i don't hear most other berklee drummers doing The amount of work he has put in to his playing is beyond impressive

This is quite honestly one of the best clinics I've ever seen. Everything here can be applied. I already feel like I improved so much just watching this. JP man, wow.

There´s way more to his playing than it shows at first. Also, huge props to him - as well as to anyone that, nowadays, chooses the professional music path; you've got to have balls of steel, or you've to be really, really dumb and naive to do that. Or be really good... The main thing here is that he plays based on CONCEPTS. From the head, through the heart and to the hands (and feet!)

Besides all the technical prowess and chops, his sound, musicality and philosophy make him absolutely amazing. He is so over any other contestants from Drum Off.

he has matured mentally a lot .. very aware of everything, not exeggarating anything, just seeing things as they really are, having no problem with any drum thing (that could be his own gem, secret weapon) ... everything is explained openly, he matured as a person and as a drummer, now he can play everything without any presence of ego, brilliant .... he´s like buddha or jesus now

Everybody's snare drum sounds better than mine.

that's the echo-beat glitch groove. Speakers get their ideas and points across not by slurring their words by talking too fast -- it's by speaking CLEARLY not 'quickly '. Slow down when you speak. One of my art forms concerns me having to speak to an audience so I know what I'm talking about. Just kind critiques.

most drum solos are just plain cluttery... this young dude made it sound groovy and refreshibg and not pretentious and no god damn double pedals hehe!
