my takeaways: 1. this might be the first time an album has blended hip hop and rock and done both justice. 2. peggy gets surprisingly vulnerable on the second have the album. the last 10 minutes are just beautiful. i know it's early, but this might just be my favorite project of his. btw always enjoy your reactions you got great taste in music man
Dude, the album version of 'dont rely...' is so ethereal and gorgeous..I don't think as many people may love the single version as you think! Love your stuff btw!
Fr, this is his most cohesive project imo. Usually only a couple JPEG tracks stick with me the first time I listen to an album, but this time I loved every song besides its dark and loop it.
Whats funny is that i had NO idea that peggy was dropping soon, and i happened to listen to OFFLINE and veteran the day before this dropped 😭 and honestly since recency bias doesnt really apply to me i think this new one is his best
bro i was refreshing youtube like crazy waiting for this reaction!! u r so right about his albums aging well. u should take a listen to Armand Hammer’s We Buy Diabetic Test Strips, peggy produces on that. thank u for the video man!
loved this album, also wanted to say just found ur channel recently, and it’s quickly become a favorite. you need to listen to death grips!!! especially Money Store
There are ways that YOTS is their most palatable, sure. But from a hip-hop perspective I think The Money Store and Exmilitary make more sense even if the former is pretty abrasive. I'm excited to see what you think of their discography for sure.
I associate you w peggy at this point. I watched your whole back log of peggy / devon reactions and now i find myself coming to your channel for each album. Much love dawg don't stop
2:52 completely agree! He’s not touring near me unfortunately but I bought the deluxe Vinyl to support the music.. and cause I just want that shit lmao
New subscriber here from Ireland - LOVED your reaction video, thank you!!! i only listened to the album for the first time a few days ago myself and was blown away - i mean literally. How could it be this good?? Well, you anticipated the question yourself even before listening. You had catched onto the fire of 'expect the unexpected.' I loved that early in your video you warned that once you get into Peggy, it can be hard to listen to anyone else (I've had this exact problem for a year now). I was so excited when you were about to hear for the first time, JPEGULTRA!! and really appreciated that you liked the title. It is brilliant and Denzel Curry's verse is also reminiscent of old MCs doing Bristol drum and bass. its my favourite on the album. But there is just SO MUCH in the album overall. It is sensitive and raw and deep and very emotional...
amazing album and amazing video 👍 13:39 peggy makes a whole lot of beats, like close to 100 and then chooses which ones to rap over and put on the album. At least he has done that with Veteran and AMHAC.
IMO, this is peggys most accessible record without sacrificing any substance or qualities that make a peggy record so unique. The rock influences and the personal backend make this my AOTY
