I just love electronic toys that have 35 functions all accessed by 2 buttons!

not worth the money for a 172 or a152 or a PA-28

This device is worthless. I unfortunately had a 730 installed and then found out that they expect you to work a complex device by rote memory with 2 buttons with an arcane series of taps, long taps, longer taps, double taps, triple taps, button a after button b, button b after button a, both buttons together, etc., etc. There are two major modes - "automatic" and "manual" which are never even defined in their 68 (?) page manual, which was obviously written in 3 hours. Run, don't walk. What a total flaming ripoff.

I like the sophistication and detail of information provided by my JPI monitor but I hate how non user friendly these two white and black buttons. To make matters worse the white and black buttons can be swapped around , as if it wasnt bad enough already

Craig, that engine needs GAMIjectors! This might be the best video I've seen showing how to use the Lean Find modes of the JPI. If you don't mind, I'll share this around.

Yes, because you can be in portrait or landscape view, depending on yr install....so the buttons can be in different spots depending.

In the video, the "step" button is on top and "LF" on the bottom. My pilot manual is opposite?

@@CraigPeyton_EarthFlight Thanks for the prompt response! The pilot manual has that same configuration with the buttons reversed from yours. Found out my guys actually flying mine home tomorrow to help me shuttle it so Ill go fly with him and maybe together we can get it figured out. Thanks again.

This video is wrong and it is missing a step on the ROP. Once leanest occurs, you need to press the button to show the peak valve so that you k now how much to enriching the mixture such as -25 -35 -50 and/or - 100 ROP .. The video skips this step. The video needs to be redone to properly show how to use the JPI 730/830. The OLD video is correct with the JPI 700 EDM. Watch the video to learn how to lean properly ---- no procedure is no different between the JPI EDM 700 and/or 730/830, etc.

running LOP is very Dangerous for most pilots. ROP is much safe er Most flights do not go on long cross country flights. and for Take off and Landings you will never use this. There is just not that much fuel savings for the cost of the unit. How many saved gal of fuel do you need to save to pay for this. Install cost. For 99.9% of small plane owners please keep using ROL you will be happy

Running LOP is absolutely not dangerous for most pilots. It keeps the engine cooler, cleaner, cheaper and greener. "Most flights do not go on long cross country flights", oh really? And how do you know that? lol Anytime you're cruising, whether it's a 50-mile flight or a 900-mile flight, you should be leaning. I don't use the lean finder because I lean to CHT's not EGT's. Leaning to EGT's was an old school method when all we had was an analog EGT gauge. Now that we have electronic monitoring, leaning out a Lycoming to a CHT of 380 is a pretty good sweet spot. I suggest you read some of Mike Busch's info on leaning and how engines work. You seem to be pretty far off the mark.
