As a 8 year experience java resource I can vouch design patterns are really important but conducting an interview based on how many design pattern a candidate has mugged up along with examples shows the immaturity of the interviewer. JP Morgan should look into these kind of instances if they do not want to lose good candidates based on bad interviews.
