Derek, IMHO these videos you make are tremendous service to humanity. I’m not a professional programmer, but kind of a rabid enthusiast and I watch a whooooollle lot of programming videos on RU-vid. There are some other good ones out there, but yours are by far the most no nonsense, easy to understand and straight to the point - coding. I salute you for your great work and heartily encourage you in your labor of love in educating the RU-vid masses.

This is one of the best programming tutorials I've ever seen. I can't believe how much knowledge you've put into it in 1 hour. Probably 1 week worth of reading. Amazing job! hope you make more like these.

What I want to know is how you use jQuery to read minds? I was just thinking just this morning how great it would be if somebody made a complete jQuery tutorial, start to finish, including ajax techniques, all in a single video, and posted it to youtube. Brilliant tutoriol once again Derek ! 0. pre-search and know what is jQuery 1. read some basic documentations 2. watch the video 3. download the code play with it 4. next day re-watch the tutoriol and use the pause button this time 5. now you know almost everything about jQuery ! But I would be even happier if you can make a project with using all technologies html css bootstrap jquery ajax etc. that would be great way to use the knowledge for us. + Maybe can you tell me how to find such projects on internet? You know whats really cool about JQ? How you are Target/select multiple things in one query. I recently found out about this. so if you have multiple rows and columns in your code you can target as such. $(".col-lg-6:eq(2) .square:eq(2)").css("backgroundColor","green"); Note that counting for programs starts at one so in this case I am targeting the 3rd Row and the 3rd Column

With the multitude number of Javascript libraries out there, can you kindly make a video on their similarities and their differences? The decision making process to opt for certain functionalities over others contained in those libraries?

There's one thing I never understood about jQuery. Why is it so important that all code is written in the .ready() function, if your script is at the end of the tag? If it's at the bottom of the body, it's going to execute if all other elements have finished loading.

What's the point of writing $("input[type='text']#yourName").val("Derek"); if you could just write $("#yourName").val("Derek"); ? #yourName is a unique id, no other can have it; so specifying input[type=....] is redundant

Wow! Talk about a CRASH COURSE! This was actually exactly what I needed, because I studied jQuery a couple years ago but haven't used it much at all since - it was a great combination of refresher and intro-to-new material Excellent voice audio, very understandable; 9 out of 10 on the video, it would have been easier to follow if you'd had a highlighted cursor; but good pans and zooms to keep the attention focused. I have heard that javascript (and by extension, jQuery) is going to be "taking over" many of the major platforms, such as ... isn't Automattic going to replace the PHP WordPress core with javascript soon? That makes it much more important for everyone to learn. Great job. The hour and 14 minutes just flew by.

Derek, on 35.56, forminput .Change() method didn't work. On changing contents of text input, the label didn't change to Input Element Changed.

Why the function inside each() has a index parameter like each(function(index) {})? Since you didn't use index inside the function so I wonder if it necessary to define it as a function para?? Thanks

Thanks for this Derek. Got a couple of questions and I think you're the best person to advise me on this please: 1. If you have a list of products (say list of fruits) and you want to use drag and drop feature so that when you drop a fruit, it disappears from its origin list and the fruit ID is captured and saved somewhere (database, file, etc), can that be done using plain HTML and angular, or HTML and Jquery? Any other suggestion on combinations like HTML5 and javascript? I'm just curious as to the best approach to this. 2. If you have suggested the best combination to achieve the scenario, do you have in any of your tutorial the same scenario so I can study? Thanks

Hi Derek, Really appreciate the effort. My go to channel for learning code. Just a thought. Have you considered Angular, MEAN.js or Meteor? They are gaining popularity and might be worth getting in ahead of the pack.

This might sound silly but would you mind making a quick sublime text editor tutorial, how to set ctrl+space autocompletes etc, how to make sublime read your vars n stuff... I've coded in eclipse but sublime is completely new to me and i can't set a darn thing to work properly, not even formatting text...

In the part about making a simple slideshow, what does the | var focusImg = 1; | do? I think it is simply a number to correspond to the elements of the array like he uses in | accidentImages[focusImg] | if this was so, wouldn't changing the value of focusImg to say, 2 change which picture was displayed next? It always goes in the same order, and even changing the image source in the html doesn't change the first picture displayed when the page is first loaded.

Derek this video is fantastic and I've now watched it twice and played with all the code. At 48:41 the positioning of the "#shMenu". The "my" and "at" parameters...you say that the "my" refers to sub menu and the "at" refers to top level menu item.....is that correct or missing something? Hi what is the protocol for when to use Square Brackets & when to use parentheses? In href Google you use opening and closing square, but in mail to, only one square? Any advice very much appreciated.

Derek, I just watched this other video of yours. I'm certainly in awe of your talents at this stuff, you're a genius. I had another question for you if I may. I have a webpage with text & image items scrolling up the page. When I view it with a smart phone, it doesn't fill the screen, I have to expand it once its loaded in the browser. Great video! Like all videos that I've watched on your channel. A bit too quick for me, but none the less great. I'm a beginner in web applications and my long term goal is to master NodeJS and Meteor, but I guess I will have to learn a lot of things beside these two frameworks, including front-end kits. So, here is a question: Angular or JQuery? Or should I learn both? I guess so... but I am trying to minimize my efforts in learning too many things, until I find a job and become productive.
