For gulab jamun (the cardamom and sugar soaked doughnut hole type dessert), you really only want 1 or 2. More than 2 becomes a total gut bomb and a struggle to eat. And I always carry at least $40 cash on me in case cash is preferred (or the only option). Kinda rare in North America, but cash-only is very common in many other countries. If small businesses take credit cards and I need to pay that way, I also tip more since they have to pay ~5% fees.
Mom is from Naples. Potato pizza was a regular in our household. Usually just potatoes, cheese & rosemary. When I would get a crack at making it, I'd add prosciutto.
I had never had potato on a pizza until I had Boston Pizza's perogie pizza years ago. Seriously the ONLY pizza I would order from BP. But then I found another place in Burlington called Mount Royal Pizza that did a really good potato pizza as well (Just not spicy like BP's). But it was really good as well. If you can find a place that does potato or perogie pizza, I highly suggest you try!
Another great vid, Ken! I love when you cover mom and pop shops as we get to discover some hidden gems and they, no doubt, appreciate the coverage. Looking forward to the next one!
Ken I have had a potatoe pizza it was called a for short p.b.l.t.c. pizza which is potatoe bacon lettuce tomato cheese pizza it was delicious 😋 awesome video Ken
I’m here in Texas and right now for the last three days we’ve been below freezing. I’m here in Midland Odessa and it is cold as can be. I don’t mind the videos going back and watching the old ones. Thanks for everything you do.
Never had Indian food and what you ate sure looked good as well as the pizza and hoagie.. For the ultimate pizza experience you should come to New Haven, Connecticut and try the pizza .. Pepe's, Sally's (Wooster Street) and Modern .. you will enjoy it.. New Haven is known for pizza.
Love that you went back to Bowmanville. All of these places are amazing! Hancs is definitely a staple ❤️ Been going there for years! (The owners last name is Hanc 😁)
Yaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!! Ken that is incredible!!!! Thanks for trying my recommendations! haha. Thanks again for representing Bowmanville well buddy. come back in the summer
Lol yes there is really a hank , fun fact hancs chip truck used to actually be hanks restaraunt which is now named kings key right across from Starbucks
It's for religious reasons not cultural. My guess is the owners or the establishment may not be Hindi. I've worked with Muslim and Christian Indians - both eat beef. For Hindus the cow is sacred. I would think, but I could be wrong, that the restaurant owners wouldn't sacrifice something sacred for non-Indian tastebuds.
@@katykvitashvili6573 I can only speak to my own experiences. I haven't had Indian food outside of Toronto. A lot of the restaurants here serve beef. Honestly I never really gave it much thought until this comment came up. I hope people wouldn't disregard their beliefs to pander to Westerners.
When you said you were coming back I didnt think it would be a week but glad you did 😃👍. Hancs is another one of my favorites here in Bowmanville. I've known the Hanc family(all four members Vic Sr. Barb, Vic jr & Traci who I got to know very well are very kind & friendly) since they started up the fries truck in 1971.
Having lived in Bowmanville for several years and Durham region most of my life there are a couple places that come to mind you should try if you haven't already: First place is called The Big M and is located in Pickering - they have the best steak on a kaiser. Get it with onion rings, you will thank me. Second is a restaurant in Newcastle called Da Taste - they sell the best Jamaican food and have the best jerk chicken roti if you can handle a bit of spice. The last place I would recommend if you can get there when it's open is called Norms and is located in Bowmanville, basically down the street a bit from where you were. They have the best perogies and cabbage rolls ever. Awesome video by the way. Cheers!
Hi Ken. I've had this kind of Pizza in France. They call it "white pizza" (pizza blanche) because there's no tomato on it. Basically this is a marriage between Italien and French kitchen. In France they have several variants of white pizza, all of them supertasty. It's a pitty they don't make them here in Switzerland. Thanks for making the videos. Very interesting to see what you guys are eating on the other side of the big pond. Best regards, Rob. (Btw. In Italy, white pizza is probably a sacrilege. They would never do it and probably chase you through the streets if you do it, like someone that cuts spaghettis whit a knife... 😮)
Potato slices on pizza is a good change of pace every once in a while. The one you had looked great. Maybe a sour dough pizza in a future Cook and Review?
I've only had potato on a pizza once - it was a spicy Goan style chorizo, onion and potato pizza from a pizza place that opened in 2021 near me. Delicious. The beef vindaloo looks amazing as does the rice & goat curry.
I was born and raised in San Francisco home of sourdough. We're fed it from infancy. lol. I love sourdough crust pizza. It's honey sauce in the little dessert.
Excellent content as usual Ken, definitely will be trying out the places you ate at when I visit in a couple months time. The sweet thing you tried in Trinidad it's called ' Rasgula '. There's a big East Indian population in Trinidad and the cooking and sweets is similar. Stay well.
Pizza is very expensive in Canada, double the price as in Germany...and I often thinks maaaaaan, 10 Euro for a pizza is not cool....but wow 20€ for a pizza is crazy... but the potatoe pizza looks good, reminds me of "Flammkuchen" 😀
main street pizza uses a cracker crust is 👍🏻. Dominoes uses a standard pizza 🍕 crust great to. Pizza Hut still making it great has a stuffed crust excellent only place that carry’s it. See if. dominoes did a garlic/cheese or a version of a stuffed crust with either place adding garlic butter/ same as their breads as a different option. those that like jalapeño’s can get it in the crust
