This is my favorite organ work by Bach. I've heard many performances before and your is, by far, and I mean very far, the best I've ever heard. So clear, perfectly played (absolutely no note missing or overlapped in any of the three voices) very well selected tones and a perfect tempo. Amazing and outstanding doesn't come close to the right words to describe your performance, but they were the best I could find. Thank you very much.
Such a delightful trio! A fun and playful toccata with a creative 'conversation' between the voices; followed by a plaintive, soulful adagio filled with Bach's most masterful harmonic modulations and then the playful almost triumphant fugue--loved the last note ending showing Bach had a good sense of humor.
Merci
I enjoyed this very much per usual but I prefer the end of the Adagio to be earth-shaking. Two reasons: 1. It wakes people up that may have fallen asleep and 2. It really makes you appreciate the Fuge.
Fantastic playing, and sound! Thanks for sharing. Would be even better if you let us have your registration. I got a 3-manual Viscount, but am not happy with that English Diapason sound. Really need to have a serious look at Hauptwerk
Attending a recital by a touring professional organist at St. Mark's Cathedral, which has a magnificent Flentrop pipe organ, she performed this piece. While competent, she performance was lacking that afternoon. The section of the Fugue, corresponding to roughly time 13:14 of your performance, she got hopelessly lost. She just plowed through that section and eventually regained her composure. I saw a number of people looking around in disbelief. Your performance is flawless.
Great playing and organ sound. I have a pristine Rodgers 22D I'd like to midi-ize and apply Hauptwerk but this would be a major challenge for me (would need help).
That would be no small task! Since everything on an organ, especially the keyboard has no expressivity control compared to a piano for example, everything is basically an on/off switch. Best bet would be to dismantle it to a certain extent and add an entire midi setup in parallel and let the entire Rodgers system alone on its own. Adding on/off switches to each keys, to each registers etc and use a midi interface. I suspect there would be more hand work placing the switches and all than electronic work. Should be feasible. You wouldn't even have to power on the Rodgers itself, only the midi system. One could maybe even imagine buying multiple cheap Midified keyboards and salvaged them to adapt all the switches everywhere, plugging them into cascading Midi thru. Your Rodgers would then only be used for its craftwork and as the "mechanical part" of the system, so to speak. Also, it would render it wayyyyyyy more reliable :) You should look to videos like "build your own midi controller" and that sort of thing. Save for the volume pedal, an organ only needs on/off switches And Hauptwerk is fantastic.
Great playing -- I just love the sound with Hauptwerk -- such a great development bringing the sound of real pipes to electronic organs. Cool that you are a profi photographer. I love my Nikon D750. What lens do you use most? I assume the 70-200 f2.8 particularly if you do weddings.
Sometimes - the simplest construction works the best - it's all a matter of the performer and the 'technology' in this case Hauptwerk ?? This performance is lovely..
I am a professional photographer with too much spare time. I used to take organ lessons when I was a teenager but dropped the ball until I discovered Hauptwerk 2 yrs ago. I never play live and I don't have access to a real church organ :)
@@hieuphysics in my experience, it is less needed to have a modern cpu or much ram. More importantly, you need an operating system with good control over what is calculated and if real time scheduling is available. I had good experiences with linux...
Fantastic. You came in a little fast after the pedal solo. Just nit picking. I think you may be better than me. I must switch from kazoo to organ sometime
All I'll say is compare this to Helmut Walcha's performance from 60+ years ago. Audible difference in that he uses different registration & not everything on the Great. Technically THIS is a fine performance: technically, but it lacks musicality.
@@FM-me6xk Just search for Helmut Walcha here on RU-vid & you WILL hear the vast difference. Why do you think organs have more than one manual & a selection of registrations? Variety & musicality.
