To me, when I think of a "Home Run Derby" I think of who can hit the most home runs. The MLB has this weird new format that was kind of dumb when you think of it. Julio hit more homers, with more total distance covered in feet. He should get the nod. The worst part is Julio was a hangnail away from getting the second bonus round. If he would have done that, it would have been game over! Tip of the cap to Soto, what an amazing player! Technically within the confines of the match and its rule format, Soto got it. But Julio will be my GOAT for what he accomplished today!

Not really useless tbh, the pitcher needs a target to pinpoint which is the catcher's glove. Otherwise, they'd be pitching in such a wide area and not knowing which exact spot would be beneficial for the hitter

Agreed, looking at the clock it seems they'd have had to go another round because after 30 seconds, Soto also had 18. Too bad Jrod failed to get that extra 44ft on a blast. Great job by both guys.

Jrod had to absolutely bury Seager and Alonso whom had the next best two rounds(behind his two) in the entire contest against him. Meanwhile Soto snuck in past two of the worst rounds against him and stole it.

My point was that there's a huge difference between getting to go after an old man Pujols who had already gave just about everything in the 1st round and having to hit as many as you possibly can and hope that Pete Alonso doesn't catch up to it.

that could be a great idea to ensure all players are trying to hit as many homers as possible in previous rounds. would eliminate alot of crybaby spammers like Justinintime2grow from crying about julio losing because julio hit more homers in previous rounds. would also eliminate the first batter second batter situation. first batter having to go full round while second batter just tries to hit more homers than first batter.

Wasn't it a format where the ball hand to land before the next one was hit a couple years ago? Haven't watched in a while. But I thought last time I watched it was supposed to land before they hit the next.

The 10 outs was slow and boring. It got to a point where not many people on tv were watching the derby. This format is more exciting, but they need to be more strict on the rules.

They need to change the format. You could hit the most homeruns in the event and still lose. That makes no sense for an event called the Home Run Derby.
