thanks for commenting all, i often travel through Waterloo just to see this guy working on the platform. Seeing him and hearing his announcements are a little pleasure in everyday's boring commute.

Wow, so funny to hear an American announcing on the tube! Hope to be lucky enough to encounter him during my stay in London, hopefully in a few weeks!

This guy is on the new The Tube: Going Underground, TV Program, He was put on an episode, were he just came back to work after witnessing someone falling under a train when trying to board/leave the train :(, Anyway, Is this guy still here, or even on the Underground anymore?

that sign/board is held up to the driver to let him know that the doors are clear and he can close them. they only tend to use them at busy stations or at peak times. the rest of the time the drivers have camara's or mirrors they use to judge when to close the doors. its all to do with safety mainly

The London Underground puts the New York Subway to shame!!!! The New York Subway Trains are old, they're dirty and noisy and they are falling apart. Where as the London Underground Tube trains, especially the Jubilee Line 1996 Stock Trains are much newer, they are quieter (Even with the famous wine at accelerations), they're a lot cleaner, and maintained a heck of a lot better than the New York Subways. Not to mention this guy making the announcement only makes it better ;)

I used to see this guy most evenings on my commute home. I always fist bumped him. Lovely guy!

+plumbob elias the sign he holds up is the modern day equivalent to the famous 'green flag' used by guards in the days of BR steam, it basically tells the driver that it is safe to depart.

I wish people would do things like that in Boston but often they don’t. Sometimes if you travel through a stage like Park Street in downtown you can find a person like this.
