@@islamforamerica4885 Valhalla (from the Old Norse, Valhöll- "hall of the slain") is where Odin's chosen spend the afterlife, having died a glorious death in battle. Fuck right off if you think islam has anything to do with the gods of my religion.
I’m sure the only reason your mate did not punch through the casket as this played and rise back up is purely out of respect because he did not want to frighten the shyte out of everyone in attendance. May your mate RIP among the Gods.
People are commenting how his voice was good here even though he was 63 at the time, but last year when he recorded "Firepower" he was 67 yet his voice sounded even better than here. Age does not affect the Metal God
Fierce is the gale From the north sea We drink and rejoice from the chalice Holding the course Through long nights and days The ice and the hail bear no malice Tow the line Keep it fine Every man seeks this end Valhalla - you are calling Valhalla - you are calling me home Valhalla - new day dawning Valhalla - this is where I belong - I belong We crash o'er the waves Bite deep on the oars Scouring the spray On the storm's maul Then lightning reveals For what we all pray By Odin in Asgard It's land fall Life from death Combat rests Heralds peace for the slain Valhalla - you are calling Valhalla - you are calling me home Valhalla - new day dawning Valhalla - this is where I belong - I belong The storm in the night takes us there On an unrelenting tide As the wind drives us ashore Halls of Valhalla Tow the line Keep it fine Every man seeks this end The halls of Valhalla are calling me home The halls of Valhalla that's where we belong Valhalla you are calling Valhalla you are calling me home Valhalla new day dawning Valhalla this is where I belong
This song is one of those tunes where the volume is as high as possible with your earbuds in but you still want it higher. You don't care if you become deaf. It's so EPIC!!!
I've got wicked tinitus. I could barely hear after the Defenders of the Faith show in 84. That's when it started. On the barricade all day. Motorhead really didn't help either, lol. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. It's really annoying. Protect your hearing.
It's a great one but I gotta say Ralf Scheepers in most of primal fears songs these days has him beat. Still Rob is an excellent singer and a stalwart of metal
God damn this song rocks! Rob Halford's dying breath with be an apocalyptic hell shriek - Priest is a band with real integrity. True to itself. True to their fans. Fabulous musicianship, guys. Thank you for continuing to put out amazing work for all these years and for taking your live show on the road countless times so we can see it preformed live. Your dedication humbles me.
This is why Priest is a fucking legend !! They still doing good heavy metal ,despite the years they havent sold his music to mainstream they havent changed his beliefs , this why Judas Priest are Metal GODS !!!
Chronologo Not only the Turbo Album, I'm afraid. They cranked the commercialism to eleven on that one, but every album from Hell Bent For Leather to Ram It Down was at least partly made with a distinct commercial approach in mind. Most of it was still very good though (although i prefer their earliest work, up until stained class)
***** I disagree. Except for screaming, those albums are generally regarded as being lesser JP albums. I tend to agree with the general opinion on that one
***** SFV is definately one of their best albums, although I like Stained Class and Sad Wings Of Destiny better. The title track of Ram It Down has the following lyric: "Thousands of cars and a million guitars Screaming with power in the air We've found the place where the decibels race This army of rock will be there" This should tell you enough on why I don't like it :D
I wouldnt go that far..this song and the entire album is amazing buuuut there is no Halford could maintain the notes he'd have to for this to be a painkiller kind of song. Even 20 years he couldnt duplicate live what he did in the studio version of painkiller. Not knocking him because this album is kickass and so is this song but i just dont think he could hit those notes for an entire song anymore (Just my opinion maybe he could who knows)
Nicholas St. John Painkiller was a promotional studio single through and through but he had no problems singing All Guns Blazing or Nightcrawler live, even Metal Meltdown had a live version which blew the studio version out of the sky.
got the album last week and i just CAN'T stop listening! Fuckin amazing! Rob can still scream and sing better than the rest! even in his sixties! All hail the metal god!
What album, what songs, what energy... battle cry and halls of valhalla are something unforgetable. Please guys do not go in retirement. You can still deliver best metal in the world.
Blind guardian - valhalla Grave digger - valhalla Yngwie malmsteen - valhalla Judas priest - valhalla I think theres a few more songs about valhalla but i dont know about
Wow..many have said Halford has lost his "High end", well his mid range is still insane and his weakest high end still can only be heard by canines! Great work on this album, Priest is back once again with a terrific Heavy Metal album, most definitely a strong runner for album of the year!
His high chest voice has definitely taken a dive but God damn the dude is getting on to his 70s. He is still phenomenal. His head voice screams are still first rate.
Always preferred his low singing to his high. Sure the power screams are amazing but he sounds phenomenal in songs like Monster of Rock and Dreamer Deceiver's first verses.

Just try imagine faces all warriors drinking and fighting in Valhalla when they meet with the first metalheads from the all world after thousand years of having no visitors. We all face there someday brothers in metal. Greetings from Poland
+Nolan Moore from Demonizer off of Angel of Retribution : The Painkiller rises again. Not to mention that the Angel of Retribution is also the Painkiller once again. Still, Painkiller, Angel of Retribution, and Redeemer of Souls are still extremely badass in every way possible :)
Getting sick of those who think there are only two Judas Priest albums; Painkiller and Nostradamus. Painkiller is good but its not the only good Priest album. Defenders of The Faith, Screaming for Vengeance, Killing Machine/Hell Bent For Leather, British Steel, Angel of Retribution, Stained Class, Sad Wings of Destiny are the all time greatest Priest Albums. For me the Redeemer of Souls album is up there with them. Its better than Nostradamus by light years, its better than Angel of Retribution, Better than Turbo, Ram It Down, Rocka Rolla, Jugulator and Demolition, so what more do you need? Stop comparing everything to Painkiller and Nostradamus cause that is just stupid. Keep defending the faith!
I hate that people thinks that painkiller is the original sound from Judas Priest. But there's no original sound from them, I think they are one of the most versatile bands ever, just listen to "Turbo" and "British Steel" they have different style. I think "Painkiller" marks an after and before in the judas priest sound.
I hear you. My absolute favorite JP album is Sad Wings. Also you forgot to mention Sin After Sin with classics like Dissident Agressor and Diamonds & Rust :p
Omair Sheikh Dude led zep and purple laid down the plans. Sabbath did the foundations but Priest built the walls! and Maiden put the roof on the house of metal
I AM THE MAN WHO GRABS THE SUN RIDING TO VALHALLAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!! I LIVE I DIE I LIVE AGAIN!!!! BY MY DEEDS I HONOR HIM V8!!!!!! I WILL RIDE ETERNALLY SHINING AND CHROME!!!! WITNESS ME!!!!!!!
I'm a black girl and I love this kind of songs... I love Judas Priest, Metallica, Slayer, Black Sabbath, Megadeth, Arch Enemy, Iron Maiden, Rage Against The Machine, Nirvana, Living Colour, Jinjer, AC/DC, Foo Fighters, Joan Jett and many other bands... I really like this song, am I weird? I really like Rob's voice is really amazing, I understand why he is where he is... Some of my favorite songs: You've Got Another Thing Coming by Judas Priest, Holy Diver by Dio, For Whom The Bells Tolls by Metallica, Raining Blood by Slayer, God Is Dead? by Black Sabbath, Nemesis by Arch Enemy, Killing In The Name by RATM, You Know You're Right by Nirvana, Type by Living Colour, Who Is Gonna Be The One by Jinjer, Back In Black by AC/DC, The Pretender by Foo Fighters, I Love Rock 'N Roll by Joan Jett, Sympathy For The Devil by The Rolling Stones etc...
No you`re definitely not weird, it doesn`t matter what colour, creed, faith, sexual orientation, political belief, gender or age, if you are a metalhead you are perfect!! \m/ \m/
What is black and what is white ?..in the eyes of God..Black Hole is black in the centre and it is the creator and surrounding particles is white where the life sustains..So no and never use the skin colour term of the racial colonists..ever. And by the way..I have the same taste of music as yours.
Welcome to the club, dear sister. Sorry for being straight to the point, but your colour of skin or other such delimitations do not matter to me. Best of luck and health to you, enjoy your trip through music, live, learn and prosper.
If this song isn't a 10/10, then nothing is. This is one of the most epic, complete and most badass songs in the history of music. You cant find a song that's more heavy metal than this. intro is probably one of the most epic intros in the history, the chorus is beyond epic and those screams! It's not real! Please God save me from this insanity! The intro and the part from 3.32 to 3.51, is that heaven? Is that the gift that Gods brings to mankind? And then I haven't even mentioned the scream at 4.30 and the part that starts at 5.08, places where the only things i feel is death and total depise, created by the imortal epicness of the ultimate heavy metal god named Judas Priest
@Mason Hodgkin the sentinel if you disagree with this that painkiller is more metal than this. Halford vocals and guitar solos in painkiller and the sentinel is beyond genius. Halford vocals and guitar solos in this one is just very good. Calm down man.
Many great artists have passed away, but legends never die. The judas priest music will survive against time They have the sacred right to cross the Halls of the Valhalla
I thought Judas Priest made the ultimate Heavy Metal album with NOSTRADAMUS, then they kept making albums after that ... and they keep on getting better! Truly awesome ever since I was 16 years old - Robert Halford has sang the sound track to my life.
Rob is just amazing singer. He´s around 60 years old and he is still one of the best singers out there. That growl and then the high tone is just fucking incredible.Love Priest, great album!
Opinion is subjective. Quality of music is not. Just like I would not say Priest are better than Mozart, regardless of the fact that I enjoy them more, does not mean that it cannot be objectively said that Mozart produces a better quality music. Following that same principal, I can safely say that Judas Priest's music is better than Iron Maiden's.
CD reviews Judas Priest (Epic) It takes a lot for a band to make up for a “farewell tour” that ended up not being a farewell after all. But on its new studio album, Judas Priest has redeemed itself nicely. Simply put, “Redeemer of Souls” is the best album this band has done in over 20 years. Powerful, fierce, captivating and clever, this could be the hard rock/heavy metal album of the year. It opens with a roar with “Dragonaut” and the melodic but still rocking title track. But things really get interesting on “Halls of Valhalla.” Priest’s one concession to age is that Rob Halford’s air-raid siren vocals have given way to mid-register singing. The wails of “Painkiller” or “The Sentinel” are few and far between here, but they do surface in a glorious way on “Valhalla.” And “March of the Damned” has the same bottom-heavy groove as “Metal Gods”; it even has similar sound effects of heavy items bashing against each other and scraping on the floor. So, if you thought Judas Priest was done - like the band briefly said it was - you’ve got another thing coming. And that’s just fine. It was farewell tour, as they stated They would stop doing big tours and continue only with Studio work. This album was planed with the tour :) Who ever was thinking they would stop making music should check his facts.
Ya it was a farewell from big world tours, happily surprised they decided on their small 2 month tour they're coming to Salt Lake with Steel Panther... BITCHIN!
Every time I listen to the guitar from the beginning, my skin bristles. This song is art and the truth makes me sad that in these times there is no music like that. I love Judas Priest and this song is art and it is the best thing I have ever heard in my life.
One of the few last remaining old school hard rock bands out there. Judas Priest still rocks major ass to this day. So glad they haven't changed their sound. Very awesome.
With all due respect to KK it still sounds like Priest. Not better. Just updated. Richie Faulkner was the best choice they could have made. He's very good. If he would have been older at the time he would have been a great replacement for Randy Rhoads had Jake been elsewhere at that time.
I think exactly the same. As soon as I saw and heard him, it was "My God! It's Randy Rhoads' second coming!" And the energy he is giving to the band and the sheer fun he has playing for the crowd!
This has got to be one of the best songs I have ever heard. I fucking love Priest!! Now for Amon Amarth to do a cover of this song! That'll be my wet dream.
That would be awesome, only thing that might top it is a live version with Amon Amarth and Judas Priest doing the song together.. with clean and growls...hell they might even summon a dragon :D
I'm a grown man, but damn, the second this song started , I cried. I cant explain exactly why, only that music sparks something beautiful inside. I'm so glad I got to hear this song, and band.
Wonderful. Perfect song and Rob is screaming like the old times ALIVE and in The studio! Yesterday Priest did a gig in my town...and Rob kicked all possible asses singing "Victim Of Changes" alive. "Jawbreaker", " Halls Of Valhalla", "Painkiller"... he still can sing any song alive!!!!
