@@kjlim3743 in my opinion it's amazing how good some of the more, and then somehow miraculously bad some of them are. Play some amazingly iconic covers, and then there is some of the incredibly bad ones: point of entry, Ram It Down (and everything after it done by Mark Wilkinson. His covers are so terrible it's bizarre Judas priest seems to like them).

I mean a band that released its first record in 1974 doing sweep picking!?? How often do you hear that? And that’s just one reason that album is good I could go on and on. Great list trenches (except for Nostradamus how dare you) I really enjoyed invincible shield front to back listening on a drive home today, then immediately went to bionic records in Buena Park and purchased the LP. I loved how they took all the different colors they’ve done over the years with synths, 2&4 driving rock, a bit of early speed sound, and an overall great range of dynamics from track to track. Giants in the sky left me feeling super reverent in a sense considering what the lyrics are about. Ritchie really has brought some fire to this band. All respect to KK, but I’d argue with the past 2.5 records Ritchie Faulkner has really cemented his colossus into this band’s legacy. And most importantly I’m very glad that Glenn was able to throw down his guitar work. Grateful that they are putting out such amazing music

The only thing I will comment on is that I think you're unfairly overlooking some of their 70s albums. That four album run from Sad Wings through Hell Bent for Leather is PIVOTAL in the development of Metal, and IMO is the band's all-time best run. A lot of people dump on Point of Entry, and while it's not quite up to British Steel or Screaming for Vengeance standards, I still think it's a good album. Headed Out to the Highway seems like the song's protagonist has reached the point of utter nihilism, while Desert Plains evokes the image of a long night's ride to reunite with a long lost love. Always knew Defenders was their best record, thanks for confirming. Beat the shit out of that tape in my jambox in the driveway hacky sackin after Jr. High in the 80's. Who was that kid? What happened to my country? It's so much later than i thought. Sigh...

While I would probably move them around a bit, I agree to the Top 6 albums, which are also the only 6 I need in my collection. 6 amazing albums... Stained Class will probably always hold that "special place" for me when it comes to Priest.

I've listened to Invinsible Shield twice so far in its entirity and I have heard the songs released early several more times. It's too new for me to rank, but I am loving it so far! It easily beats the last two albums. I'll have a better feel for where to place it after around 10 listens. Here is how I rank the other albums. I love stuff off even the lower ones, though I've never gotten into the Ripper albums. 1. Screaming for Vengeance 2. Stained Class 3. Sad Wings of Destiny 4. Painkiller 5. Defenders of the Faith 6. British Steel 7. Hell Bent for Leather 8. Sin After Sin 9. Nostradamus 10. Angel of Retribution 11. Point of Entry 12. Firepower 13. Turbo 14. Rocka Rolla 15. Redeemer of Souls 16. Ram it Down 17 /18. Demolition/ Jugulator

Damn. The intro didn’t lie. Now it’s my turn. Best - Painkiller/Firepower/Invincible Shield/Screaming For Vengeance Awesome - Stained Class/Sad Wings Of Destiny/Jugulator (I’ll debate you all day on this)/Redeemer Of Souls Great - Angel Of Retribution/Sin After Sin/Ram It Down Good (but troubled) - Defenders Of The Faith/Killing Machine/British Steel/Nostradamus Weak - Point Of Entry/Demolition Worst - Turbo/Rocka Rolla

I still love the song Bloodsuckers off Demolition , I cant help it I just do . I liked a bunch of Angel of Retribution too . And of course I love several albums before these like Screaming for Vengeance and such , but that should go without saying . Firepower is cool too . I havnt heard all of the new one yet but what I heard I wasn't big on .

Invincible is getting crazy ratings after less than a week out.. It's a good album, but in the top of the Judas Priest albums? I don't think it'll last up there for most people. Again, i think it's a good album.. i just think people are too excited and ranking it way too high :)

Screaming for Vengeance is the perfect blend of their classic soind and 1980s cheesy metal. It sounds 1980s nostalgia but in a good way like GTA Vice City radio.

I gotta say I'm mostly in agreement with these rankings! Although personally I'd move Sad Wings, Sin After Sin & Killing Machine up to great, move Screaming for Vengenance down to fantastic and Defenders down to great. Defenders is awesome up to a certain point but for me at least the album runs out of steam after Eat Me Alive. Painkiller is the only perfect Priest album in my opinion and it's generally just one of my favourite albums ever! I have to give Nostradamus a re-listen too. I haven't listened to that album all the way through in years but I seem to remember thinking it was a good idea/concept just poorly executed! I sometimes wish they explored that sound more after that album. I guess now I gotta check out your Maiden ranking video, Maiden are my favourite band and if that intro is anything to go by, I'll have my pitchfork on stand by just in case! 😂

I'd rank the albums before Rob's departure quite differently, bu starting from Jugulator I completely agree (except Shield that I haven't heard yet, but I'm hyped with all the singles). Despite that very different opinion, I had to give you thumbs up for that comparison with Iron Maiden (man I'd like them to release anything close to Firepower) and Metallica comment. The only thing I missed - is Shield better than Firepower?

Though I do like and respect what Iron Maiden has transitioned into, what Judas Priest is still doing 50 years into their careers just doesnt make sense to me. Like how is Rob able to sing like this still? How are they dropping some of their best material of their career? We are literally witnessing living legends. What a treat. Rob truly is a god.

I actually agree the Nostradamus was pretty underrated. While I think it suffers from the same bloat problems as latter day Metallica and Iron Maiden, it also has a lot of strong material. I’d actually say you nailed most of this one other than my disagreement with Sad Wings. I might switch Defenders of the Faith with Firepower. That album is legitimately so good.

It's just a matter of where you came in with Priest. (Might have heard Breaking the law first, I'm not even sure if I did at that point. Sin after Sin was my first Priest album). Of course your ranking might be a bit controversial and there are a couple with which I agree and a couple with which I strongly disagree. Haven't heard Invincible Shield yet but the reviews and singles sound very promising. Firepower had a couple instant bangers but with just under an hour it was still a bit long... 2-3 songs less would have bumped it up even higher Perfection: Sad Wings of Destiny (my favourite album), Stained Class, Screaming for Vengeance, Painkiller Fantastic: Killing Machine, Sin after Sin, Defenders of the Faith (last third brings it down a notch for me) Great: Turbo, British steel, Firepower Good: Redeemer of Souls, Point of Entry (Couple of duds on both but the songs I like I really like) Okay: Angel of Retribution, Nostradamus, Rocka Rolla Fun Bad: Ram it down (Don't know where else to put it - half of it I really like and half of it I can't stand) Boring Bad: Jugulator, Demolition (Although Cathedral Spires is alright. But Demolition... more like DeNOlition)

Your point of Firepower vs recent Metallica is spot on. As was your remark about recent Maiden. I love the first six Maiden albums, but i feel they've been overrated as fuck since. It baffles me that Maiden is the bigger band worldwide. Priest has been here longer, has more well known 'hits'(or at least classic rock/metal staples), have at least as many albums considered classics. JP may have a couple more flat out turds, maiden have less F's, but more boring chores. The Blaze and Ripper eras equally sucked. I dunno, at worst they should be in a head heat.
