The first time I saw Priest was in 1981 at San Diego State university amphitheater. Savoy Brown opened for them. A bunch of folks couldn't get in because the show was sold out. They were so incredible that the crowd outside, hearing how well they performed literally tore down the chain link barrier and sat down on the grass to listen. Probable about 4 or 500 people rushed in at once. Rob just pointed at them and smiled and continued on as if this were a regular occurrence at their shows. Its still my favorite concert memory and I have both seen and played at concerts with many well known bands.
Nice. I’m rediscovering them from my youth. Really enjoying getting to know them again, after 35 years!. They had great songs, unique two guitar sound, and of course, RH’s incredible voice.
I missed out on them in the 70s and early 80s, and didn't discover Priest until 1986 with the release of Turbo Lover, which, to this day, is my very favorite song of so many great ones. I saw them live for the first time, Nov 7, 2015, on their Redeemer of Souls tour. I had so much fun; watching them gave me so much joy!
It's a massive shame how far they fell as far as commercial success/attendance goes. Metal in general is not as popular anymore but I have seen Priest 4 times, and each time they struggled to sell half the venue. Even with KK and Glenn. Oh well, everyone that didn't go missed out, and the people that were there got to witness heavy metal at its' absolute finest.
First saw Priest in July of 84' at Irvine Meadows in Southern California. The are my favorite band to see live. So good. Set list: Love Bites Jawbreaker Grinder Metal Gods Breaking the Law Sinner Desert Plains Some Heads Are Gonna Roll The Sentinel Rock Hard, Ride Free Night Comes Down The Hellion Electric Eye Heavy Duty Defenders of the Faith Victim of Changes Freewheel Burning The Green Manalishi (With the Two Prong Crown) Living After Midnight Hell Bent for Leather You've Got Another Thing Comin'
That's awesome. That's probably JP's prime. Right after Defenders. Like they came off Vengeance on fire and poured gasoline and thermite on themselves. I've been in love with some Priest since 1982 or so when my older sister came home from the record store with the SFV cassette. Either way, got to see them last year for the first time. It was an amazing show but I would have LOVED to see them back in the 80s. You are a lucky man to have those memories.
He ain't human, he is Metal God! Believe it, his voice still got that much power, rage and feel in 70+ age!! Rob Halford has been and still is among my Top-5 most favourite Vocals of all-time (with Bruce Dickinson, Dio, Klaus Meine and James Hetfield). Long live Legend, forever Judas Priest!!! ❤️💚🇧🇩
Metal Gods age 16 when I witnessed Vengeance in 82! I'm 55 now I have witnessed the Priest 10 Tours! In America, Germany and in the Metal Lands of England! Forever Metal forever Priest!
Ten thousands lights come blazing down with razor sharp precision. The speakers pour out molten steel and the beat gives double vision... Hail The Metal Gods!
Priest has literally scores of great tracks. Though is isn't my VERY favorite, it is a favorite, and the one that I most associate with Judas Priest--THE metal gods PLAYING Metal Gods!
I saw Priest last year and was totally blown away. They were so much better than I expected considering Rob’s age. This was the song that got the fists pumping in the air!
