Yes. That's the only reason they'll do anything. $$$$$$$$$$ of course. As the lawyers on this show explain it is the lawyers who will get paid first. What little ( and it will be a little) is left might possibly go to the poor ladies. It is a thoroughly disgusting system.... the poor ladies shouldn't need lawyers to get their money if the court has judged in their favour. It's a scam. The two lawyers on this show should be ashamed and call it out for what it is.
Thank you Neal Katyal for saying that these women represent " the best of America". They worked for us so we could express and contest our political views in a peaceful manner as we have done for a long time. We depend on our poll workers and the folks who help with the count and they deserve our respect and trust because they are us anyone can become a poll worker or help to count the vote. All you have to do is apply at your county and be approved. Guillani got what he deserved, now what about the rest of them!
Sorry, but what the two ladies were awarded was totally out of any reasonable proportion for an ordeal that amounts to feeling afraid. If they succeed in getting anything out of Giuliani, give them a million each and then distribute anything beyond that to the deserving poor. This hundreds of million dollar awards is ridiculous, and supposedly learned commentators talking as if it is actually a just outcome is disgusting. Shame!
@@raoulh.4440So you didn't follow the trial in any detail I see. They were not merely "afraid." They were driven from their homes, had to give up appearing in public in their home town, Ruby Freeman lost her business. Obviously, you didn't read any of the expert testimony regarding the cost to restore their reputation. Obviously, you also haven't considered the purpose of deterrence, to make sure that others know that they cannot do the same to others without severe consequences. Complain all you like, and a higher court might well reduce some of the penalties, but Rudy Giuliani deserves this And worse.
@@antondovydaitis2261 Americans are so into gestures. They ask for and are awarded amounts that could and will never be paid, for hypothetical harm that never actually came to pass. And these proceedings distract from and delay the real goal of getting Donald Trump out of politics permanently. All the various prosecutors need to focus on building a coherent and comprehensible case regarding how Trump and his cabal tried to steal the election. The rest is a side show. We can redress the minor injustices while Trump is in prison.
They should offer like a 10% bounty to the whistleblower on any assets he's trying to hide. And if it's a lawyer, immunity if they confess their role in an asset-hiding scheme. DIsbarment and jail as co-conspirators if they don't.
And he should be Globally banned from any form of legal practice. I agree with the O/P, he should have been locked up the moment he essentially perjured himself on the steps of the court house after he'd already pleaded guilty in court to his defamation suit.
He should be so lucky as to be put up in jail and forgotten for his remaining years than be an indigent living in someone's garden shed and surviving on tinned dog food.
It is moving more quickly than the Daybell trials and the Delphi case. Considering how many people are involved this could go on for another 10 years but I am confident those who haven't been charged will be . Jordan, Green,Tubberville, and the current speaker of the house.
@@lellyparker Exactly. The obvious reason why they are all doing Trump’s bidding tooth and nail. There is always something that amazes me in your judicial system, apart from its slowness and extreme deference and favor for the wealthy and well-connected - namely its lack of … coherence for lack of a better word: defendants are promised huge sums of money, and when it is time to collect, they are told that the ones that have been found guilty or liable don’t have to produce any justification concerning their assets, can keep lying in the same way as before and just … *could* be sent to jail… Way to go, American judicial system. Rich conmen and criminals have always had and always will have a bright future ahead of them.
Most of everyone else cannot afford to feed the machine of the law that stands ready to take all the money you have to pay for "justice" Which is why Trump has been able to spin things out , all paid for by his donors, many of whom, are one pay check away from a life on the street :-)
The people in the highest level of government sold us out and robbed us blind through planned release of a bioweapon and you guys cheered. Literally supporting the deep state swamp creatures that have destroyed so much of this country.
… with cellmates “Orange Jesus,” John Eastman, Kenneth Chesebro, Mark Meadows, Roger Stone, Steve Bannon, Kash Patel, Stephen Miller, Sidney Powell, Jenna Ellis and others, among the hundred or so FAKE ELECTORS and complicit (R) Congressmen who denied the peaceful transfer of power…
Had I have been the judge in Rudy's case and known what he did on the front steps of my court room, I'd have insisted he approach my bench, make him repeat what he had just said outside, and then advise him, *"You've repeated the offense you already admitted guilt of. Sheriff, handcuff Mr. Ghouliani, and put him in a prison cell until he's capable of being TRULY REMORSEFUL for his crimes."*
But, of course, the Judge didn't do any of that. The Judges up to now have done NOTHING to stop these narcissistic bullies running around. @@lorenzos1666
Blame commie media and Brandon’s handlers. Commie judge wouldn’t allow Rudy to show all the evidence he has watch the videos of these two Demorats putting the same ballots through a vote counting machine 3 times between donut breaks
He has to be insane to not have settled. Instead he keeps doubling down on what he knows is a lie, and he'll be hounded for the rest of his sorry life. The people paying for his private jets etc aren't going to hang around for long.
Do some fundraising with the MAGAets. Let them pay the 148 million like they would for Trump. It also would be nice to see that money leave their hands and go to good peoples hands.
@@dannmarceau No, not just because. Rudy was a central figure in all of the illegal acts that happened during and after the election. That is what he should be held accountable for.
There are thousands upon thousands of far better men in jail. There are few men anywhere near as bad as Giuliani. Not even Trump is as evil as Rudy. The sooner that man's behind bars, the better for everyone.
So great to hear Neal Katyal not only acknowledge the bravery of these two women, Ms. Freeman and Ms. Ross, but to use *election integrity* in its proper context. Free and fair elections - free from manipulation and GOP introduced restrictions.
Free from intimidation; from threats, I don't know that I ever appreciated our poll workers as much as I do now. I feel a bit as if I took them for granted all these years. It's humbling.
The fact that the jury awarded these two innocent election workers a $148 million judgment against Giuliani is a huge win for justice and decency in America.
No, it's not. It's a travesty of justice. Awarding that kind of money to anyone is ridiculous. They will NEVER see all of that money from him. Besides, It's already on appeal. All you have to do is get a different jury, in a different county or state, and a different judge. Judges CAN BE bought. Jury's CAN BE bought. You should know. You're a democrat.
Why can’t they employ an forensic account(s) to track down his assets?? Why can’t they call the bank and put liens on his properties and auction them off and give that to the plaintiffs?? Why is this so hard? He’s got money, and just put him in jail while they do this.
There's no way he doesn't have some money, and a percentage of future earnings should also go to them. Persons in positions of political/social power should be held accountable for what they say. If a regular, poor, unconnected person did what he's done, they'd be in jail. He's sleeping in comfort, eating fancy foods...because the legal system doesn't treat the wealthy the same as they treat the rest of us
Ruby and Shay are so courageous! They are the very best of America! Because of you two women, i am now an election judge. Thank you for your fearlessness! You have inspired a nation!
The Judge should put a deadline on Rudy to deliver what he should have delivered DURING the trial regarding his income and funds and assets and be up front that if he misses the deadline he goes to jail automatically.
I wouldn't trust him for one cent. These types of people always know their way around and how to keep their money away from others. They don't even pay tax, and that should tell you something. BTW, where has he been living on all these poor, poor years?
And his victims have lost their name, their house, their jobs, their community for doing the right thing... working for the USA's democracy. and what does the USA do.?... rip them off, threaten them. The lawyers will get what little $$$ that oaf Rudi has.... and the ladies r lives will be misery until another exploiter comes along , maybe with a "book" deal... which will exploit them just as Rudi and the US legal system has done....Shameful. And one of the lawyers on this show said it will be a shame if Guiliani goes to jail!!!
I agree. The USA justice system seems either complicit with these grifters, running scared of these grifters, or $$$$$$ corrupt ( the Supreme Court for example) or all together. Disgusting. You or I would be locked up right away!
It would be quite a turn to see the former mayor of New York end up as a homeless vagrant on the streets of New York. 😂 Giuliani needs to be left penniless.
For those here saying that the award is too much: Remember that this is Guiliani's own fault. The judge asked him to disclose his assets/financial situation before the proceedings began and he refused to cooperate. Therefore, the judge could not suggest a reasonable amount to the jury. Again, he has no one to blame but himself!
I'm happy for Ruby and Shae, and it's not about the money, they're vindicated and validated. They're fortunate to have a support system. I wonder how many people who weren't as blessed are doing, and are they still isolating and suffering in silence.
@@beckydoesit9331 We owe him nothing. He is a criminal and an insurrectionist. Just because he was the guy that was mayor when 9/11 happened, does not make him immune from his consequences and credibilty in his modern day career... or lack there of it.
@@larryo6874 The widows of the dead firefighters of 9/11 do not view him as a hero. He was a villain who forced the Fire Department to buy obsolete walkie talkies from a Giuliani donor. The outdated equipment did not received the urgent calls to evacuate the towers. All they got was static.
Giuliani did the math and decided that he wanted to be on the inside when the coup succeeded. Once he committed crimes as a traitor he couldn't stop. He touched the third rail as a traitor and our government should make him pay with everything he has. Why he's not in jail already is baffling to me.
Means the ladies will get virtually nothing, if anything at all. The poor ladies shouldn't need lawyers to get their money if the court has judged in their favour. It's a scam
E. Jean Carol, Shaye Moss, Ruby Freeman, Cassidy Hutchinson, Liz Cheney, Fani Willis, Judge Tanya Chutkan, Letitia James... Am I starting to see a pattern here?
His funds had better be frozen and seized right now. If he's able, I'm sure giuliani would continue to hide and/or spend everything to prevent his victims from getting anything.
He has ALWAYS been a ruthless bully who cared only for fame and power. ALWAYS. He made panhandling a CRIME in New York, along with criminalizing poor people whose mere existence upsets the rich whose "quality of life" is damaged by SEEING them.
@@judithbradford9130 - There was a two or three part series on either PBS or CNN detailing Rudy's life. And in it, it shows how he marches on the same *"POWER TRIPPING PATH"* that Don-key does. They pointed out that he consider Don-key his pathway back to power, glory and fame after his popularity declined subsequent to 9-11.
They should also interview Giuliani‘s ex wife Judith Nathan. They as example split their art collection when they divorced in 2019(?). An Art Advisor was suing Rudy Giuliani in 2020 for failing to pay her ($15000) for appraising his Collection during his contentious divorce. Who knows what it’s worth. He might have a Warhol.
“Thanks to the tenacity of these women, there’s FINALLY accountability.” Wow. What a sad statement on the effectiveness of the US justice system. Without the likes of EJean and Ruby and Shaye, there would be no accountability at all.
Watching from afar.I hope those brave ladies get some of that money very quickly and that Rudy goes to jail soon.Justice works so slowly but is their a glimmer of hope that these traitors are heading towards prison soon.
They'll get nothing. The lawyers will have their snouts in the trough - the lawyers on this show said the lawyers get the money first!!...Then there are the endless appeals. The US spits on the two black women who were working for the US democracy. Shame on you USA.
Ruby Freeman and Shea Moss are American heroes. They show the rest of us how to fight back against Unamerican cowards and bullies like Julieannie and Trump.
The widows of the FDNY heros who died on 9/11 because of Giuliani's corruption agree. Obsolete communications gear forced on FDNT by Giuliani because it was sold by a big donor. The Firefighters couldn't receive the calls to evacualte the building because the outdated equipment.
I like Neil's comment about these two brave ladies. They show the best of America. I think that not only was the US audience watching. I think the whole world was. The gall of these two women! Of color. No susbtantive economic resources to speak of. Daring to stand up to a well off, well connected vicious and bigoted white guy. And they won!!! I feel as if i am standing next to them, savoring this sweet moment of justice.
I'll say like a judge told my sister after she won her case, he said "good luck collecting" and the case was closed but she never saw a dime. The business owner packed her business and left town. RG will be find and the judge ain't putting him in jail, this may sem like a win for those deserving ladies but they'll be waiting a long time for that $$$ IF they see it at all. Sad
i hope these two women can start receiving 💰💵 *instalments* immediately, giving them the opportunity to buy homes away from those who bullied them, providing them with privacy, and an environment to heal. My guess, Giuliani has more wealth than he says he has. [ share portfolio, gold, real estate, and foreign investments]
I think that this case MIGHT turn out to be more important than everyone seems to think. The default liability judgment and the HUGE damage award will (probably) be very persuasive evidence in the RICO trial. Giuliani defamation case.
Rudy has no remorse for what he’s done, and he knew it was wrong the entire time and he could have stood against trump at any point in time and kept himself accountable but that alcoholism has gotten the best of him. He should be in prison now because he’s a danger ⚠️ to society. Alcoholism kills.
Rudy Giuliani is a very, very, sick person in so many ways. It's not a good idea to give great power and a massive platform to truly sick people like Trump or his minion, Rudy.
These two gentlemen are extraordinarily talented prosecutors and lawyers, both with impressive resumes a mile long. Of course they both have their reasons for working as Legal Analysts for MSNBC but to me it’s like shooting an ant with a bazooka. But I’m very grateful to both of them for their legal insights and professionalism. I wish them only the best and say, “Thank you!” I suspect there are people similar to skip tracers who track down money instead of people. Miss Ruby and Shay’s attorneys will hire these financial bloodhounds and eventually find Giuliani’s pots of gold. All these MAGA a$$holes think that they’re above the law and can do whatever they want but their time is coming. Not as quickly as I would want but it’s coming. 😠 I’m waiting not so patiently for what Glenn Kirschner calls the “suits” of the insurrection to begin going to jail. I suppose like it took Alvin Bragg to fire the first salvo when he prosecuted TFG’s company, which seemed to jump start the prosecutions in Washington, Georgia, Florida and NYC, once the first traitor is jailed more will follow fairly quickly.
They won't be. The two lawyers on this show said it is the lawyers who get paid first!!! Which probably means these brave women will get almost nothing.
I don't see how this provides any deterrent to Giuliani. He keeps wagging his contemptuous mouth. Putting him in jail might be a deterrent. His 'wages' SHOULD be garnered. His actions deserve it.
A judgement without execution of the verdict has little value. The judge needs to be giuliani in jail until payments to his victims begin and plan is submitted through the court that mandates the actions he will take in an acceptable timeline to attempt to make restitution. It frustrates me to hear so many people in media act like the judgement is the important thing. Imagine how much crime there would be if consequences only came many years later, if at all. Consequences are the deterrent, not judgments.
Just remember, 45 virtually made same false accusations against these ladies too. Rudy, RNC, and Federalist Society will find a way to fund appeals all the way to SCOTUS.
