The ending could have been: (Hershey kisses Dredd) Dredd: Judge Hershey, unlawful contact with a fellow federal judge. 20 years on Titan hard labour. (Dredd roars away on the lawmaster) Dredd: Mega City one. 800 million people living in the ruin of the old one. And the mega-structures of the new one. One thing fighting for order in the chaos: Judges
That's what Galen Demarco was offered after she snogged Dredd, though it was implied they were going easy on her because they wanted to keep a good Judge. She decided to resign instead.
I loved that ending back than. He just did his duty and that role wasn't power hungry or about prestige. Movies like that had ending to think about. I miss that maturity from leading persons in real life - don't you, people, too?
The fact that he turns down chief justice shows you how much he cares about upholding the law, even after learning about his origins and the janus project.
Deuce bigaloo bombed even more at the box office a couple of years after Sylvester Stallone's Judge Dredd! The only redeeming factor about deuce bigaloo is that the sequel is way worse!
@@scottknode898 How the FUCK would Joe Pesci be like in this movie? Goddamn, my curiosity knows no bounds with this one? And the escape from the fire sewers scene? "Goddamn it, fuck, DREDD! I'm fuckin' stuck 'ere! Never wanted to be extra crispy!" "I was wrong about you, Dredd. You're a Goodfella to me." (Dredd stares at him) "...What?!"
1:48 - 2:04 "well i can't go back now that was too good of an exit. Well i guess i'm stuck here for a while. Damn it, I forgot my Ipod. 100 bottles of bears on the wall 100 bottles of bear"
I like new Dredd movie better, BUT... when I hear the music here from 01:18 min forward I feel goosebumps I never felt in new movie... it feels like when I hear this music... LIKE JUSTICE IS IN THE AIR... SOMETHIN... you cannot describe with words... no way... JUSTICE... JUST JUSTICE... crawling in all of us... and it emerges on this... music like this... brings the best of us. You know what Im talking about, you feel it.
I just don't understand why people thought this movie was so terrible. It was great in everyway I thought. Great actors and actresses. Great story, great effects. I say this film is absolutely breathtaking and Brilliant. A++++++++++++ in my book.
wadehallen I think it was because it wasn't accurate to the source material. I've never read the comics but from what I heard Dredd never took off his helmet and there was a lot of violence. That's probably why everyone loved the 2012 Dredd movie more. Personally I thinks it's stupid but enjoyable but I will admit to liking the new one more.
I don't care what people say about this film. It was amazing and I still watch it to this day. I hate when people say it's not character accurate. If you want character accurate go and read a graphic novel. This is just one interpretation of Judge Dredd not the over all interpretation. Just take it for what it is. A movie with guns, blood and at the end of it he gets the girl.
This movie fits the city, cits and angel gang perfect Better than the dredd movie But dredd itself was more stallone like in demolition man and not dredd A mixture of both movies would be great Big Hopes for the tv show mega city one
Ryuichi Ikegami very bad marketing. Watch the trailer it looks very generic and it tickets were crazy expensive wince the movie was only available in 3D at the time.
This film had so much potential. Sly was a cool Dredd, the music was great and Mega City one was breath-taking. As per the screenplay was the weak link in the chain as well as Dredd being helmet-less for most of the movie. Such a missed opportunity. The Karl Urban film is the definitive Judge Dredd film. It's such a pity it won't get a sequel though.
@@too_legit_to_be_fit Fans loved it, it was a phenomenal film. However, it just didn't get the viewing numbers - didn't pull in many people who weren't already Dredd fans. Not quite sure of the reason why tbh, the genre base seems large enough.
Karl Urban nailed the role as Judge Dredd, but there is no definitive Dredd film IMO. The Urban film is way too low budget for that (although I personally enjoy it and like the gritty feel of it).
Judge: "Judge Dredd, we have to reconstitute the Council. We'd like you to consider the first position of Chief Justice." Judge Dredd: "I'm a Street Judge..and I'm very late for work!" Judge Hershey's facial expression: WTF???!! 😂😂😂
Dredd in the comics: "Kissing a Judge is a betrayal of the law Hershey, remain where you are the Special Squad will be with you shortly, Cadet you are not in your full uniform report this violation to your most senior supervisor at the academy, every Judge here is on report for cheering, it's against behaviour regulations and a noise pollution, every citizen is to leave the area or I'll stick every gruddamn one of you in the cubes for interfering with a crime scene, I'm late for work Lawmaster take note, Judge Dredd, Joseph on report for failing to be on duty when instructed to do so"
@@PumpkinHoard That was from The Pit wasn't it? I remember getting the 2000AD where that happened and on the cover was Dredd embracing her very tenderly for a kiss, what happened in the story was different though!
@@kieranfo3739 I think that was a little while after the pit when Demarco herself was a sector chief. But yeah, the cover wasn't exactly what happened. More like Dredd was shocked for a moment then had a little rant about how disappointed he was.
Im glad it was not the comic version, I think that would of annoyed me greatly to see judge dread be more a pointless machine then a person even at the conclusion of the story.
True, but in retrospect, the movie actually could've been much better if it didn't try to cram in various Dredd stories into one film; which felt largely underdeveloped and under-cooked.... Dredd 2012 succeeded because it was much more focused and less convoluted. Sometimes, less is more. And that's where the 2012 film succeeds; especially with Karl Urban's acting performance.
I gotta admit rocky was way badass as judge dredd and i thought He was a incredible super hero cop too.And honestly he reminded me of batman and robo cop too for real.
