Had a similar situation 30 years ago and she described the feelings you experience very well. When I think about my experience all these years later it still makes me instantly feel nauseous and violated and so small. It's hard to comprehend if you haven't experienced it, she's very brave.

I almost cried. She articulated what I had not been able to after experiencing police violence. Its that somebody had power over me to violate and permanently change my sense of well being. Its like a dagger in my heart a pain I can't scratch each time I remember four officers punching me then laughing and telling me they would report i attacked them to give me a felony. Luckily I was vindicated but that humiliation of not being able to do anything burns me to my core.

Sorry that happened to you, Judge Hatchett.❤ I had something similar happen to me when I was around 11 years old and a teenage boy I knew started groping on my breasts. I was in a grocery store at the time and it was totally unexpected. I didn’t know how to handle it and I did nothing…I felt helpless just like you so I can totally relate. I wasn’t even sexually active at that age. I never even told my parents because in my young mind, I was embarrassed and thought I may have did something to cause it. Mind you, I wasn’t dressed provocatively, never flirted with him (neither did he ever flirt with me) I never was even attracted to him or anything like that. I was just a young girl going to the grocery store to get some candy and be on my merry way. It doesn’t matter how a female is dress or even if she’s attracted to a guy, she never deserves to be sexually assaulted. I’m sure this happens to so many girls/women and they never tell anyone because of shame and somehow blaming themselves for the assault. I think education is much needed for girls on how to handle these instances and boys need to be educated as well.
I’ve been assaulted so many times. As a young girl and as a woman. It’s ridiculous! They are use to getting away with it. That was his way of humiliating her. If that was me, I would have slapped the mess out of his behind. It happens to women and girls more than we would ever like to believe. When I’m in the schools I separate the boys from the girls for that reason.

Thank you for giving us the knowledge of how you were affected by that person. Trauma leaves scars. Imagine being 12 yrs old, asleep in your bed and you're awaken to similar groping. The trauma of pretending you're ok. Faking life going to school. Faking you're ok around family. Losing who you were, forever. The feeling of being empty and dead inside. Putting one foot in front of the other when the whole time you want someone to hug you and say they got your back. Instead you become enemy number one in your own home. For the rest of your days family beats you, calls you names, laughs at you when you cry, pokes fun of you when you're angry, bullies you, lies about you. Each and every day of your life you know you're hated. One trauma is not worse than the next. The age of the person doesn't matter. A voice is all we got. Keep talking and never shut up. Never! Do it for me and the millions of abused with no platform or audience. ❤ Sending love to you and a big cyber hug.
I'm so sorry. Don't have to know you personaly to tell you that you were never deserving of that. To me, ''nothing short of physically murdering someone'' - I believe that there is no worse thing that could be done to another person than this! Hope, as best you can that you are finding now for yourself the comforting you were without then.
Who knows how many victims there are who have come into contact with this "sheriff". If this person did this in front of a whole room of people, and a judge shows the blatant disrespect and abuse of power thinking he can do anything and nothing will happen to him. The governor proved him right. Shame on the governor and all those involved delaying justice. He definitely needs to be on the other side too and go to jail for his crime... Yes, I think she is the one who daughter n law died after giving birth. Judge Lynn is the one who lost her husband 😢😢both ladies are beautiful individuals. I hope they both overcome.

Dear Judge Hatchett. I'm so sorry you are going through this. I'm grateful for your dignity, the support you have, and that you are keeping your power. Sexual assault is a crime of power. The sheriff's assumption of having power OVER a Black Woman AND her Black Male date is undeniable. The criminal sheriff couldn't accept feeling less important than highly respected Black people. Thank you for being a voice for women like my mother, who knew there was no such thing as actual justice for Black victims of racist sexual assault during her lifetime.

Hi Judge Linda Hatched; I appreciate your courage, and your boldness, to tell your story. I'm so sorry, you went through this terrible thing. There are a lot of sick people in the world. I am a lady who have listened to your programs, for years on TV, when you used to work with the young people, who were very trouble in their souls, while they were still living under their parents roof, in the parents home. I also have been to Manhattan studio years ago, when you were doing a case, and all the people who were in the studio, was told to turn off, their cellphones, so there wouldn't be any ruption with cell phones, going off. I was a lot younger than I am now. That was over 20 years ago now 🙂. I want to say, may God bless you, and keep you in His care. I really appreciate your testimony about, what you went through. I'm so sorry about what you've been through. I can relate. I wonder how many other people he is done at 2 and has gotten away with it. This isn't a behavior that I am sure happened just once! Especially if he thought that he could do it to somebody of your caliber and nothing was going to happen. That is extremely concerning!

I know just what she when through, me as a child, back home in my country, I was sexy abuse by a Roman Catholic church priest. I am in my 60s now, so it will take her alone time, I can still smell how he smell on me. I feel so much sorry for her, a judge people do these things too also, that person who did that to her should be a shame of him self, he needs to remember that he, have a mother, daughter, sister and auntie, how would he feel ,if someone did the same thing to them, like he did to judge Glenda. So sad.
So much respect for her speaking out. As a victim of a SA by a stranger, it's SO hard to talk about the attack and have people understand the long term implications of such an attack psychologically, emotionally, etc. The guy that attacked me is now out and in violation of SO reporting, never ONCE, reporting to his parole officer. I live in fear daily that he will seek revenge... And nobody understands the daily fear of seeing him. Unfortunately, for Judge Hatchet, the LE position of her offender complicates the process of protecting him. I'm glad she stood her ground. Any SA or SB, or worse has long term consequences for victims that aren't visible to the general population. Stay strong out there! ❤

Me, too. And every female I've ever talked with. First reaction is shock. The anger driven by wanting to restore my dignity (regain control) wasted my time and energy for years. Old men afraid of losing their powers want to bring back the good old "Mad Men" days.

Yes, she is a judge and he was trying to show her that he was still above her and could do whatever he wanted. It was a control and power move and need to humiliate her. This is on the same level as an actual RAPE...Rape is about power and control, not desire.
I met this wonderful lady many years ago during the Christmas holidays. She is kind and caring. I am so hurt that this happened to her. She did not deserve such an evil act to happen to her. So glad she stood up to this sex offender. And did not let him get away with it.😮

They get brazen when their poor behavior goes unchecked for so long. It escalates, and escalates...and then "oops! Did I do that... in public?" Trust and believe this Sheriff had a history...somewhere. Got a nerve to be in a position monitoring everybody elses behavior.

Let's hope this awful situation helps other judges better understand why victims of sexual assault often have a delayed reaction, why they sometimes don't scream or fight their attacker and all the other reasons why the legal system might further denigrate them or delay action. I hope something positive comes from this.
