He really did take the power out of the judges words. That was a perfect display of true narcissism. No apology, no remorse, not a single kind word to the families he destroyed. He just made it all about him, and the families have to walk away knowing that the killer got everything he wanted. How cruel. I’ve never seen anything quite like that.

I don't really need to a sworn admission of defeat from the defeated in any situation. For me, victory does not lie in the hands of the vanquished to dispense as they please. So when you're sitting there in shackles, looked at as garbage by all, and condemned by the state to death, that's what speaks. Not his empty bluster and bravado. The scoreboard speaks. Not the guy walking off saying "Oh, yeah, this was exactly what I wanted to see happen, losing this game 200-0."

Prior to abolition in the UK the sentence of death was usually carried out within a month of sentencing. And when the sentence was carried out there was no fuss or fanfare, no public or press witnesses and no last words. The executioner entered the condemned’s holding cell, pinioned him and marched him to an adjacent room where he was place on the trap door, noose over his head and down he went. Often times the entire process took less than 10 seconds. This really was swift justice and as humane as it could ever be. Compare this to the media circus that judicial executions have become in the US. The real victims of the death penalty are those that are involved in carrying it out.

What he did was a typical narcissistic psych strategy. He thanked the people responsible for condemning him, claiming he approved of and appreciated their actions. He asked for a sentence he KNEW he was getting, and made sure to explain how he is MUCH better off with it. This takes away some degree of satisfaction from both the Prosecutor and Judge, as they are forced to play into the verbal construct he created and give him what he wants. He couldn't even let the harsh "let God have mercy on your soul" thing go without challenging it. My soul is fine, I don't need your mercy, you've given me an upgraded housing situation and I thank you for it. You have helped ME. No mention of the victims, their family, empathy or remorse. Nope. @intelstruggle8203
@intelstruggle8203 Год назад
I think it's a comforting thought that we tell ourselves (and media produces) that anyone capable of murder is a sadistic, overly animalistic, loud and obnoxious uncontrollable person. But the truth is that anyone, and I mean _anyone_, is capable of it under the right circumstances and if they feel absolutely justified in their actions then they likely won't feel much remorse about it. Even the sweetest little granny you can imagine. Now, that's not to say that everyone is capable of becoming an outright vicious monster towards everyone. But very few people are, and that's more of a trope we convince ourselves of. Most killers aren't monsters, they are humans who succumbed to the very human emotion of extreme passion and made a bad decision in the heat of the moment. If you learn in-depth about the |-|it|er Youth then you'll see that the /vast/ majority of people are capable of what they deem to be justice. It's a very rare case that someone grew up in that environment and didn't agree to do it. We as homo sapiens are great apes, albeit hairless ones, but society plays a much larger part in our morals than we would ever think on first consideration.
@mrblaque215

He's terrified of dying and his narcissism is causing him to be manipulative and try reverse psychology in hopes that the judge, out of spite, doesn't sentence him to death. Trust me, when that judge said death an ice cold shiver went down his spine. Death row is set up to torture him. That's why they wait so long. They WANT you to change and be rehabilitated. That way, when they walk you down that hall you're a changed man. You're not the same person that committed those crimes. You've went to school, gained trust with guards and been a good boy for the whole time on death row only to change and realize your change means nothing. It was all for nothing. It shows him exactly what his victims faced. They also had things going good for them. They had dreams if what their kids would be abd who they would marry. They were given a life through a miracle and it was all taken away, because of this thing's actions. I hope he does have to wait 15 years before they do it. I want him to become normal and rehabilitated. Only then will someone like that realize why they are there and that they deserve it.
