I absolutely appreciate how you explain these books of the Bible. How come when I read on my own I don’t understand completely. But still I am so thankful for what I learned today. I am not in a church presently and I pray I can soon.
Sin is Sin. We are all sinners. Do not consider yourself better than others. As forgiven sinners our quest should be to get other sinners; sin forgiven. Not act like the self-righteous pharisee who looks around and thanks God that we are not like them.
Human nature has not changed in the 3,000 years since these events took place. We are all still looking to do what is right in our own eyes and our moral outrage is still very selective. "O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? 25 I thank God-through Jesus Christ our Lord!" (Romans 7:24-25).
I'm glad to hear a teaching on this. I read it because it's in the Bible, but it's so traumatizing every time, it's hard to understand the lesson. Thank you for your compassionate, yet straight forward take on this story.
Thank you so much, dear friends in Ontario Calvary church for this meditation study on Judges 19-21, because this week, our New Life Assembly of God church in Chennai is studying these same chapters for a Bible quiz online !
God answered my prayer, this sermon was for me. i was reading the book of Judges last night and after i finish reading ch.19. it really rubbed me the wrong way so much that, i had to stop reading. every time i read that Israel did evil in the sight of God. i also thought that they just worship other gods, but now i know just how wicked and evil their actions actually were.
Here lately when I am looking to get a breakdown of scripture from my reading time….This channel never disappoints. Thank you for sharing the word we’re others can understand and become good stewards of the word of God
Wow. I've only read a couple of stories in Judges. This one sure got my attention. Thank you for a very sensitive teaching on such horrific behavior, and clarifying that because something is in the bible does not mean God approves of it.
I think there’s a reason it’s put last, even though chronologically (these chapters mention Phineas) it occurred earlier. It’s not only a shocking example of moral degradation but reflects how brutally Israel could wipe out their own tribe but couldn’t exact that same zeal to the Canaanites who committed just as much evil and atrocity.
This is the best lesson I’ve heard on these chapters. I’ve always wondered why the events occurred. I first read these chapters in 1989 and have never understood the significance and lessons in them. Thank you so very much! I’m saving this so that I will watch it again and again. In His peace.
@22:39 When Isaiah said “Jesus shall not judge by what his eyes see, or decide disputes by what his ears hear, but with righteousness he shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth.” It really shocked me bc we’re so quick judge and take sides. But God knows how to perfectly handle disputes according to each one’s needs. Truly, It’s amazing to think about.
True... Everything seems messed up right now. Things that were horrible couple years ago, are now mostly viewed as normal. We can't say anything cause they say we're judging them. Worst of all the schools, media, etc., are filling the minds of our children with so much filth! 😢
Oh my!!! What an amazing interpretation to relate the scripture as to things going on in our nation today. We were given the assignment by our Sunday school teacher to read Judges 19, 20 & 21 this week to discuss in class next time. I basically understood the gist of it but this clarified it and brought it home. Thank you so much 😊✨🙏🏽
Thank you so much for helping me to understand those verse of the bible ,as it was hard for me to understand and believed such horrible act before our God . Again thank you and the lord bless you richly.
Left-handed men could be something to either do with fighting a southpaw could prove more difficult in melee combat or it could be something to do with Christians being superstitious about the left-handedness being a sign that they belong to the devil. Back in my first school, I was actually forced to write with my right hand despite being left-handed because of the idea that school had which was left-handed people belonged to the devil. Imagine what being told that you belong to the devil did to me at the age of five.
I haven’t read the whole Bible before. For starters, I don’t enjoy reading because I need to reread it a couple times to understand. Now than am reading it, I need to make sure I’m understanding what I’m reading. This series has really helped me.
Thank you for your wisdom and understanding of these chapters in Judge's....had been reading it and I had questions and I needed to hear someone ministering about these chapter's and you came along and made so much since in your talk....So, thank you so much!☝
I am so blessed to have you explain these books of the bible to me. This was a hard one. But I do have a better understanding of its contents because of your lessons. I am excited to be moving into the book of Ruth.
From what, I understand from sports, is that left handed individuals have an advantage, because most people, are used to dealing with right handed individuals, so someone coming at you with a sword in his left hand in the midst of battle can throw you off balance and maybe even into a panic. It gives you the element, of surprise. Just, a theory. It does say they were slingers though, which means they would throw stones, but, slingers could also be, melee, combat, units. I would assume this to be so. In the battle, I assume, that, the stone slingers of Benjamin would pelt the Israelites before engaging them in hand to hand combat. They would probably pelt the soldiers of Israel while their melee troops, engeged Benjamin's melee troops, from the side, or possibly from a hill or an elevated position. This is probably why it, is mentioned. It could justify the large casualties Israel suffers despite being 400,000 versus 25,000. Especially if Israel had no slingers to return fire, and had to fight under a constant barrage of stones knocking them out cold and cracking skulls, ribs, teeth, arms etc. Not a fun situation to be in.
I heard that men who used their left hand were not considered good for battle, as God uses the right hand to express His strength. but these men excelled in their own strength. maybe this explains it .
Nowhere in the word liberation does it relate to following God. Liberation in the modern sense is a trick and usually brings a man to the path of wickedness.
Hey Pastor Paul! You mentioned how Jesus said not to call anyone 'Father', but in the same passage, He says not to call anyone 'Teacher' also. I am not sure I understand. Does that mean we can't call people our 'teachers' in a religious context too? i always though the passage wasn't litera;
So they were commanded to kidnap women in a certain way to so as not to break an oath. 20 So they instructed the Benjamites, saying, “Go and hide in the vineyards 21 and watch. When the young women of Shiloh come out to join in the dancing, rush from the vineyards and each of you seize one of them to be your wife. Then return to the land of Benjamin.
I think it's better not to explain that. You are running the risk of making it worst. Trust me, I have seen preasts, preachers tap-dancing with this, that is just to sad to watch.
