Laura InRevison1 that P tendency to get things done last minute exists in INFJ because INFJ become enamoured by their inner Ni-Ti world, and then when they realize that their project needs to finish they go into hyper-Ni mode and willpower their way to surmount any deadline. It’s our “super power”.
Thank you so much for your comments! I find the J vs. P is one of the most interesting differences between people. Both have strengths (the J gets things done ASAP, the P prefers to gather data and then make a decision). When parents or couples understand themselves and their partner, they can prevent misunderstandings.
She is a great teacher, but I do think it's important to note that a lot of people can be more in the middle. Yes, everyone is either a J or P, but you can find judgers who aren't extremely organized and perceivers who like making lists and organizing in some ways. I am a J, but I don't necessarily have the most organized room. It can be a little messy, until a certain point, and then I go insane and need to organize it. That is because I'm not an SJ, and my surroundings and the present moment are not priority.
No you can't change your function but it doesn't mean you can't be organized human being just because u are P. As Perciever u can learn how to manage time and how to be organized. Your mentality, attitude and how you focus to do specific things still will be same, you just need to take additional focus to thing like time and force yourself to do it, while J will do it without thinking. Percieving function doesn't mean you are walking mess on wheels, believe me.
"I don't necessarily have the most organized room. It can be a little messy" Being J or P is not about having tidy or untidy surroundings. It's about planning (or not planning) events. Planning in advance, making a very clear plan and sticking to the plan (J) or just being spontaneous and making it up as you go along, frequently deviating from your original idea and adapting and changing the ever-evolving plan as you go along (P).
I am an intp but when I am working on a group project something changes. I frequently check with other people, make lists ans so on. I think its a need to to not be the weak link. Great presentation
Come on! Don't you recommend NF/NT and NF/NF relationships? As well as SJ/SP and SJ/SJ pairing? I mean it is all about how we communicate (that second letter) and the thinking behind that. Marriage can be tough enough as it is with out adding another aspect of difficulty to it. Yeah?
My mom is definitely a J. She likes getting things done as soon as possible. She also likes planning ahead. She keeps a calendar too. I am more P. It's a struggle sometimes but she helps me make more progress.
I had to watch this video at work and could not access it at home. I took lunchtime and viewed the video and I was totally impressed with the presenter. She engaged you into the materials and kept you interested until it's completion. I found it very helpful in the way I think about others and their style of getting things done.
I'm a J, but I must say that I'm not always one to get everything done right away... Am I constantly thinking "I need to get this done asap," if I procrastinate or take my time? Yes. Which is probably a sign that I should get it done rifht away. 😂 Though sometimes I feel a need to wait it out and let my mind process ideas. Maybe because my dominant function (Ni) is a perceiving function?
@@youssefcharradi2363 Indeed - I'm also an INTJ, and I'm exactly the same. Since the J or the P tells you whether your judging function (thinking/feeling) or your perceiving function (sensory/intuition) is *extroverted* , it will only be your dominant function if you are an extrovert (i.e. your first letter is E). So, if you're an INTJ, your extroverted function will be your judging function (thinking in your case), and that's the function that will be at play when you *are* dealing with the outside world. However, since you're an *introvert* , your dominant function will be the internal, introverted function - your perceiving function (intuitive in your case), since your judging function is extroverted (if your perceiving function were extroverted, you would have P as your fourth letter and your judging function would be introverted). It's the one crucial factor that the speaker in this video (though very good in many other ways) neglected to factor in, meaning that what she says only applies to extroverts, and only to introverts' behaviour when they *have to* use their extroverted functions.
This reminds me of a summer research project I had to do. We had ALL SUMMER to do the project. I started on AUGUST 22, and was finished by August 28th. I ended up with an A-. I feel sorry for those who started in June, and ended up having their projects literally thrown on the floor!!
We all have some level of judging and perceiving as we all have all 4 base temperaments P phlegmatic P sanguine J choleric J melancholy All predominantly phlegmatic and sanguine people are exactly as you described the perceives and time definitely an issue with these types says this INFJ Or Melancholy 40% Sanguine 30% Choleric 20% and phlegmatic 10% I think that makes me an lNFJA at60% judging and 40 % perceiving .well I'll be, I always felt I possessed some kind of bridge of understanding between the J and the P Thanks MB that helps verify my long term suspicion using the 4 humor base temperaments system passionately since 1976 All systems borrow from the base 4 as I have provided some examples above
I'm thinking of the fable The Ant And The Cricket regarding the Judging and Perceiving groups. The judging types are like the ants while the crickets are perceivers. Do you think my analysis is somehow correct? I don't know but honestly, I'm not the type of person who plans ahead. I usually act at the spur of the moment. So I guess I am the perceiving type. Is my observation correct?
+kamalamasama My Keirsey test score is 10-10 in this category. So sometimes I am a J("Let's get it done NOW") and sometimes a P("Let's wait and see"). I am so glad I discovered Keirsey. It has helped couples, parents, teachers, and bosses understand themselves and others!
The thing is, I keep thinking I am a P because I do things last minute but seeing that P graph also gave me an anxiety attack and I get nervous when time is running out. Then it’s still submitted last minute so fuck.
Sounds to me like J types are doers and P types are like "it will do itself" ...I can imagine that P types are studying in the way that learning on exam 3 days before the exam something that takes 90 days to learn. I would be really interested in their knowledge then. This is not meant to be to offend anyone. Could the P be something to do with less gyrification in the prefrontal cortex therefore maybe more impulsive behaviour?
when my boss went on a vacation she would give us a to do list. I would always tell my CO worker that we need to get stuff done and said Co worker would say we have a whole week chill. I'm guessing I'm a J now I have a new Co worker and he is also a P
By the looks of it, your Ne is high. You tend to second guess yourself. And you look introverted. So, I'd say you are INFP or INTP. But you appear more F than T.
