It’s time for this week’s Judicial Branch Defined!
Adoption: The process by which an adult may legally be declared the parent of a child that they are not biologically related to. Once adopted, the adult is legally considered no different than a biological parent of the child.
Example: “The whole extended family attended Mark and Linda’s adoption ceremony of baby Eileen.”
