Learn more about the legal system with our Judicial Word of the Week!
This week’s Judicial Word of the Week is: Trust
Trust: A written legal arrangement where a specified person (trustee) oversees the property belonging to someone else (trustor) for a beneficiary. A trustee may also be a beneficiary. Property included in a trust doesn’t need to go through probate.
“The grandfather wanted his granddaughter to inherit instead of his children, so he created a trust naming his granddaughter as beneficiary, with his best friend as the trustor to ensure the terms of the trust would be carried out.”
