Judie Tzuke - Welcome to the Cruise 

This should be played to every classically trained singer. YOU DON'T NEED TO VIBRATO THE HELL OUT OF EVERY DAMN NOTE. This lady achieves maximum emotional impact with no vibrato whatsoever. Absolutely mesmeric performance.

One of the most under rated and forgotten about singers of all time.

I cannot beleive all the comments, from so long ago...2024.still my go 2...beautiful songs......a voice from another place.

40 years later and I still regularly listen to this album.

Judie is one of those underated artists. She is brilliant!!!!!!

They simply don't record 'em like this anymore -- one of the most magnificent album tracks of all time. Soaring vocals. . . majestic guitar solo. . . plus those Technicolor-meets-Cinemascope woodwinds and strings. Absolutely epic!

my first record i bought was this album i still have and have followed her since for you she is absolutely englands finest singer bar none my car number plates are JTZUKE :)

She had such a mellifluous tonal quality to her vocals. The double-tracked harmony sections are sublime and she is so expressive in a yearning/romantic way. I find her music mesmerising. She was an understated and subtle performer. The band are also rather brilliant - led by the magnificent Paxo. They don't write or sing 'em like that anymore.

A stunning album, it is mind-boggling that this was not the biggest selling album in the year of its release, the arrangements and levels of musicianship are brilliant.

Just paid £3 for this album on vinyl and now bought another 2 albums on eBay. Her voice is just superb. So underrated.

I heard 'heaven can wait on a radio while working in the middle east, Took me years of searching to find. out who That Voice belonged to. Love at first listen. How she passed under the radar in the days of bananarama!!!! Aaah the music business. God bless her tho' her vocal on Morcheeba's blue chair is the making of that whole album.

I remember being at Glastonbury festival and working there , and being on stage at the side I think that was the year of the lazer show. Strong voice.

Best F'kin song ever

Why was this frickin' FANTASTIC song NOT released as a single? What the hell was her record label thinking not releasing this "should-have-been-a-smash-hit"? It COULD have been her break-through hit over here in North America, it had mainstream radio potential out the yin-yang! Although I WILL say that it's downright criminal that "Stay With Me Till Dawn" failed to crack the Billboard Hot 100, having bubbled-under at #101, for shit's sake! Judie should have been a BIG STAR is all I'm saying. And much bigger than she actually was in her native U.K. as well.

Excellent, she would have deserve to be much more known.

i love hearing of all your memories connected to this song. now i feel like going to lanzarote in a renault 12 :) well here's my story: someday i discovered her on the internet - meh.

@MajorSirGerryPending I was also at the Anvil on the 14th. Sat in the second row from the front, and had an amazing view of the lead guitarist, Graham Kearnes, when he was strutting his stuff on a couple of tracks. This is the first live concert I have ever been to. As I am a bit of a studio purist, I was worried that they might mess around with the songs a bit too much, but Judie's voice was just as good live, as the studio recordings. This is when you can tell how good a singer really is.

Such a great song and so beautifully sung.

Looking forward to seeing you at Fareham in October. I have always treasured this album since the day it was released.....

Very nice voice, and without all those "vocal gymnastics" you hear on a lot of modern day female vocalists. From an engineering point of view- this sounds as though it has been double tracked, or some possible digital effects, given this was recorded in 1979, when the studios started to get in the latest digital lexicon reverbs and delays. If you compare her natural "unprocessed" voice , then listen to her voice at 4:52, you will hear her vocal without effects, except added reverb, singing "no more goodbye" -(especially the word "goodbye" pure and simple single tracked voice, be it with tons of reverb on, but not the voice double "tracking effect"

Still going strong, I've had to remind people she's British, most thought she was American, so understand it's criminal.
