She thought about being an opera singer. She thought about being a concert pianist. She became the artist of millions of fans. Listen to her sing every day! If you are in the right mood she could make you cry with her voice. What a talent!
Funny you should say that because I have often said that she is one of two singers whose voice alone can bring tears to my eyes, the other being Patsy Cline.
She makes me cry everytime i hear her since i first listen to her and now after she died even more. She and the guys are like the friends of every of us their funs.
I met her in a little place in Bradenton Fla and froze! I could not speak as I was starstruck,. I graciously walked out. She was my favorite person of all!
Here here. Danny Boy is definitely one of the most beautiful songs ever written. It’s been sung by many people but no one can EVER live up to the most beautiful, pure, expressive and heart-wrenching sound of the beautiful Judith Durham. I cry every time I hear her sing it, just can’t hold back the tears, how ever hard I try. Has anyone heard her singing “All Over The World “? Pure beauty and fantastic song.
Elton John, who knows a little something about music and singing, once said that Judith was one of the three best female singers ever (the other two being Eva Cassidy and Karen Carpenter) - absolutely nothing to argue with there...
“Judith Durham’s voice is renowned for its exceptional purity, clarity, and warmth. Her unique tone has been praised by critics and fans alike, with many considering her one of the greatest female vocalists in history.”
This is the song i sung to my my son when he was a baby, he passed away aged 22 in 2009 from a brain hemorrhage while at Trinity College Dublin, the pain never goes away. Judith sings this as best it could ever be sung. I love her singing its so unique.
I can't begin to believe what you are going through, not bloody fair, 22? my daddy was 82 annd christ that waas hard enough, thoughts andprayers with you, may your boy rest in peace, god go with you xxxx
I don't know what to say, to lose your son at such a young age, is heart breaking. I spent many months in Hospital as a child, and my Dad sang this to me. Judith sings it so beautifully. I shed a tear every time I play it. I'm sorry for your loss Michael
I cannot believe how 252 people have given this the thumbs down? This is such a beautiful song. Known, loved and sung worldwide. Judith's voice has just the right quality for it and she sings it so beautifully with love and passion. Shame on you, whoever you are.

As any professional singer will tell you this song is difficult to sing because of its wide range but Judith Durham with her remarkable talent makes it look effortless
My father in law used to like to sing this when drunk. He was at Dunkirk and Nimegen and was a paratrooper beyond the beyond. He gave my son his medals. In memory of Stan Macnamara. Please remember him.
I feel I must push in here as an Irishman and say that This singer sings this from the heart. She tops every other version I have heard. She is a treasure and a credit to her country, Australia.
Have a wee listen to Maureen Hegarty from Derry singing her version , I am sure you will be impressed also . Judith was one of the greatest voices of her day .
The people who have given this the thumbs down, all I can say is I feel sad for you, because you must be tone deaf, a woman’s voice like this comes along once in a life time, .and will be remembered long after when most if not all of your pop hero’s have been long forgotten.
No false vibrato no vocal acrobatics just pure honest interpretation of a beautiful song Judith Durham was and is the best female singer that ever was I miss her voice.
I have never been able to describe the style of so many Pop singers of today, but vocal acrobatics is an accurate description of their style of delivery. I really love to hear a singer like Judith and her pretty voice sing as the song should be sung.
A voice as clear as crystal. Judith really let’s out her glorious soprano voice. Absolutely the best Danny Boy I’ve ever heard. Here in October 2020, who else?
I am 66 years old, and never in my life have I ever heard such a beautiful version of 'Danny Boy'. It gives me goosebumps, a lump in my throat, and tears in my eyes. Thank you Judith! And thank God for giving you to the world!
I turned 66 last month --- while searching through music by the seekers last night I came across a singer I had for some reason never heard before. This is her singing "Danny Boy" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-j32Fnb_8Bv4.html
This song was my late dad's favourite song l cry when ever l hear it lost my dad 2002 to cancer and l was shattered then lost mum 2009 to cancer too and mum loved Judith singing this version of Danny boy 😂😂😂❤❤❤life is soooo precious 💞
One of the lovliest ballads, sung by one of the world's lovliest vocalists. Judith, you brought such joy to us all ... your beauty, your voice, your songs will live on through the ages.
Hello!!! How are you doing today, please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you’re a fan ? Have a great day… Stay Safe!
Being Irish I have been brought up with Danny boy sung at every gathering n even when it was just in our home .I have never heard a version sung like this it is gloriously superb!!!
@norman smithers sorry to hear about that! I would like to get to know you better if you don’t mind? Where are you originally from? And where do you currently live?
How sad that Judith Durham has just died. As was mentioned by the PM of Australia, “she was one of their national treasures”. I hope others will agree. 6/8/22
Fifty years more and people will miss our time, and not exactly because the future will be worse. People simply tend to believe the old times were better.
I have loved Judith since the sixties beautiful woman, the voice of an Angel but I still wonder who has the finest voice Judith or Annie Haslam of Rennaissance

Not much makes me cry but your passing has me with tears rolling down my cheeks, i am 73 and have listened to your stunning voice all my life and your passing has broke my heart. RIP Judith, now go join the Angels from whence you came.
Judith's voice has a rare purity and beauty. I cannot quite describe it. There's something enchanting about the color, brightness and fullness of her voice.
Yes, it is unique. She had measles as a child of 4 (in 1948) and was very sick. She had bronchiectasis as a result...a lifelong condition like people with cystic fibrosis have, but without the progressive damage of that disease. It left her with a chronic cough, which she has trained herself to control while singing. It also left her with lungs and breathing passages that gave wonderful power and unique timbre and vibrato. What could have been a tragedy turned into a gift for her and the world!

Vale Judith Durham. No one will ever replace you, You were a very special person who dealt with tragedy and heartbreak but never stopped smiling, an incredible vocalist, pianist, and performer who was an ambassador for Australia. I believe she is now performing in a better place reunited with her husband, thank you Judith Durham for the music and the memories you have given to so many millions of people all over the world.
My dear father loved this song and he used to play it on his piano, it's so special to me because I know that he was thinking of me while playing it, God bless him.
Robin Mayhew We do have them..Many of them but the powers that be wont let them become in public view They pump out all low morals music.Lady GA Ga and Katy Perry distroyed americas your girls with their half dressed crazy music..We really need people like this to be allowed a platform
RIP dear lady, NOWBODY can sing "Danny Boy" with such genuineness and tenderness as YOU. It's a very sad song about heart break and hope. Sung a lot at funerals, I know of no other song that is more requested at this difficult time because it uplifts the spirit. From an Irish man who has heard this song quite a few times.👍💚
The Seekers: Often unjustly overlooked for their musical contributions in the `60's. But Judith Durham possessed a voice as clear as a mountain stream. Danny Boy may be denigrated by Irish purists, but her rendition is as sweet and precious today as it was so many years ago. Thank you so much for posting.
I am an Irish man and I was unaware that we denigrate Danny Boy. To your point I agree Judith's rendition, voice, and delivery of the song are absolutely fantastic and beautiful.
Judith your singing fed my soul, the purity of your version of Danny Boy to all the wonderful Seekers songs with the boys. I was at the Music Bowl in 1967 with my dear Mum, I saw the 25th reunion, the 50th Concert, I went to the 1994 Grand Final to see the Seekers, I saw you sing jazz and singing with the Choir of Hard Knocks. I am saddened that your carnival is over. Thank you for the joy your singing gave to me and many, many others. Heaven’s choir now has its lead singer and you have now found the Olive Tree.
Peace be with you Judith: I'm 73 Irish/Dutch Canadian. The 1st song I ever heard and learned to sing and play on keys and strings was Danny Boy for my Scottish Grandmother. Other then performing King Crimson with my Les Paul Mansfield such as Epithet - the Sneekers and the Rankin Family made the music I loved. Judith's rendition of Danny Boy was always my favorite - God Bless Her - Ron
My spouse passed very recently but before she did I had her sit by me and listen to this rendition by Judith. She had never heard of her before. She was not much of a tearful person but this song made her cry like a baby... even with her advanced dementia this got to her.
Judith Durham broke my 10 year old heart when she left the Seekers in about 1967. I love her dearly still though, and her intro to the song set up the very best version I’ve ever heard. Like Judith herself, just BEAUTIFUL!!
My heart is truly broken and I have cried to hear that Judith has passed us by. All the wondrous qualities of her voice can be heard here. They called her a songbird, but she was so much more than that. Who do you know who can sing like her. I am blessed to have known her, met her and heard her sing.
We played this at my mum's funeral, she used to sing it to us when we were young, Judith singing of it is beautiful, I am sure she is entertaining people in heaven
The Angel never fails! Judith Durham is absolutely the greatest female ever born! At this writing, we got the sad news she has been taken up to Heaven! My fountain of tears will be flowing for a while! Why,oh why is there always a little room in our hearts to cry when such a darling person always seem to be carried off to Heaven when we all of a sudden, see a great lady and leave us in tears! God will take care of the marvelous human being that made so many people on earth, enjoy the pleasure so spread across the globe to make so many very happy when we are usually in damping spirits with her most wonderful voice to soothes our souls!
