I saw Max at Bourmouth in about 1970.As I walked past the theatre car park he was walking across to his car which was an old grey Rolls Royce reg MAX 1.I walked over to him and chatted to him for ages,he was in no hurry at all.He signed my programme and then left.A short while later I was sat outside this cafe and he pulled up across road out of a side street. He turned right across the front of me,saw me,and waved. He was a lovely man,I'll never forget that night.
What a first class artist he was, his sort of brilliance will never come along again, putting to shame all those so-called performers we have today. First time I've seen this video, two outstanding artists together producing a first class performance. R.I.P. Max
Of the many recordings of this great song, this one is in a league of its own. Note the choir and orchestral backing and Judith singing descant. Superb.
My late father was a huge Max Bygraves fan and have nearly all his LP's. When my Dad was retiring in the last 80's - I sent a letter to Max asking for an autographed photo for him. Not only did Max send two photos but also a lovely personal letter wishing my Dad a happy retirement. Max was a class act.
The 1970's were awfuzl in some ways but at least those times had an understanding of what romantic meant and I prefer them to the cowardly hypocrital dictatorial times we have now
Has there ever been a,voice as crystal clear as Judith Durham.,,? Did her lung problems mean greater care in her breathing and diction. on top of that a,truly beautiful and lovely spirit .the world's great lose
Archie Woosung: I first saw Judith Durham in 1964 , when the Seekers were becoming popular. Yeah, I thought she was beautiful then , I always have , I still do, and always will. I prefer her natural, charming, girl next door , unpretentious, beauty to any Hollywood movie star' so- called "beauty" Guess you had to be there to understand the beauty that I and many thousands of fans worldwide saw and continue to see in Ms. Judith Durham. We will always love her for who she is, what she has accomplished, and yes...... For her Beauty! Peace, my friend. Tim in Midland,Texas
There is no comparison to Judith Durham. She's a one off, and I thank God we've had her my entire adult life to enjoy, sounding better it seems every year. She had no idea how dazzling she was, and here she was at her peak, in love, a newlywed, singing one of the greatest love songs ever written with a great partner. I love you Judith, and always will.
I Love her voice and The Carnival is Over is one if my all time Favourites it was number 1 here in the UK when I was Born.. She has a Beautiful voice I have a lot if Seekers Vinyl Album
You couldn't have put it better Barry. Its now the time when her earthly problems are over and she has gone to join her beloved husband. Now isn't that a wonderful thing.
Easy listening is not really my bag, but a fantastic rendition of a great pop song. Whatever the music fashion there will always be a place for people who can sing as well as this.
I was only a young man in the 70's/80'S but I remember Max with affection. His laid back brilliance shone through in the hey day of British television.
No words in the english language can frame the beauty of this woman.....................add talent without peer and a demeanor that embraces all that hear her and you still cannot begin to describe her!
This is just MAGICAL - probably the best female singer we ever had, and the late great Max Bygraves. R.I. P. Max. Wonderful childhood memories of Junior Choice. Sadly missed.xx
Such a magical pairing, just Iheavenly music. The best female singer we ever produced, and the wonderful late Max Bygraves. R.i.P Max, wonderful childhood memories.

Someone asked in comments on RU-vid: "What makes Judith Durham so attractive? Well , besides being so beautiful, having endless talent, and being so articulate, it is her gorgeous smile and humble, charming personality !! That explains it to me. Love her music with the Seekers, as well as her solo albums! God bless them all! Most beautiful female voice ever, in my opinion. Tim in Texas
Well, we aonly saw her on screen when she was made to look her best and I think that if you take off the rose-tinted specs and look at ther objectively, you'll see she's "nothing special". With my ancient eyes most 25yo's look pretty good & Judith is no exception & her look is particular enough to have it's own appeal, so attractive yes, beautiful no. Without bthe fame, maybe 3/10 would have "fallen for her". Only my opinion but I have access to 16yo twins...if you want to take the challenge I'll ask them?
