Make more of these please. I also drill the 'short fake, long fake, kosoto kosoto, big turn throw' you showed. More like thoseeeee. MJS.

I like that term: Modular Judo System. What happens if after you get your grips, feint, and you commit to the throw then your partner does in fact go for the counter, does the counter break the attack cluster or does the cluster account for the counter and the counter to the counter? In other words is the cluster dynamic or static in a preset combo?

If you form a cluster correctly, you should have both improved your grip position significantly and taken them off balance. If this is the case (and you should have the time it took to fire off the cluster of stepping, cutting, etc. to know how successful you've been) it is extremely hard to counter the attack. If all my weight is on my left foot and you attack that leg with Osoto, I might find a way to keep my footing, but it's highly unlikely that I'll be able to shift my weight enough with losing grips to counter.

Love these really condensed lessons esp as a beginner. As much as I love the standup, could you do some more content on newaza especially for beginners?

Hey Shintaro! So I normally train judo at Kyushu University in Japan since I study there as well. I notice that the Japanese almost never use the fake step like at 1:25 (among a lot of stylistic differences of course) but I just don’t understand why. I’ve found quite a bit of success utilizing it but I don’t understand why it’s not more prevalent among the Japanese

Quality over quantity. That’s going to be your problem throughout your life if you get these confused.

Thank you, I'm a big fan! Can you make a video about big size differences (I know there already is one, a great one too) but focused on begginers (im a tall white belt and there are mostly very short people in my dojo). Thanks again for your work.
