This is Judy, two days after her 14th birthday. Recorded Friday, June 12, 1936, this is her earliest Decca recording available.
Written by Edgar Sampson, Chick Webb, Benny Goodman, and Andy Razaf, Judy is backed by Bob Crosby and his Orchestra. This record was intended to promote Judy's popularity as MGM tried to discover film vehicles for her. This record features "Swing Mister Charlie" as its b-side, and if requested, I'll post that.
What a voice! There has never been a singer since!
Judy did not record for Decca until over a year later. This was her last Decca recording session done in New York until 1945.

Sometimes with jazz songs I hear the instrument versions before the earlier lyrics versions. Then I hear the singing/lyrics version and the song just gets way more meaningful. Awesome

All that jazz by Judy The Queen. Overworking, postnatal depression, drugs and heavy smoking cut her marvelous life short. She was having a ball while balancing on the rope over the Great Canyon singing, dancing and acting throughout all her lifetime Judy with no dear and regres stopped at the savoy jumper Down at Carnegie hall and brought Down the MGM house by storm while burning her candle at both ends. I can't wait to meet and dance with you dear somewhere over the rainbow. Hopefully anyway. Cheers !

I don't know when in 1936 she sang this, but if it was before June 10th, she was 13, after she was obviously 14. Judy was the best alto in the world at 12 years old. Hard to believe, but, true.

Lovely, brings back memories when I used to listen to Judy on the radio in England. I had this 78 record, it was on the back side of something or other.

I've heard the instrumental version of this song innumerable times, but this is the first time I've heard the lyrics. And it's a hard song to sing, with the word "savoy" so close to the next line each time.

@112ALONE But Swing was a worldwide phenomenon! Harry Roy led an orchestra, and he was British. Also it's a bit unnerving to find I'm the same age as her when she recorded this.

IMO, Judy had a generosity of spirit that Barbra lacks. That's one reason Judy is so well-loved by her fans. For Judy, it was always about her fans. Not so with Striesand.
