I just discovered your work here. Wonderful; I totally resonate with the aspect of painting one's emotions - I see it in your wide, sweeping strokes. This is what I need to be doing. Thank you for the inspiration! Definitely checking out your website.
Hello I'm just wondering if is there any rules in making abstract painting or just speak your heart out to your canvas? Thank you in advance for the Answer
Love your work. Abstract is my favorite form of art except I use a camera to create it. I’ve always wanted to try painting but have no idea how to start and what I would need. Wish this video was 2 hours longer.
@@judyhintzcox3782 Yes, Judy. I am a designer, and finding my way back to art. I found your video in a search. I was so struck and inspired by your work, I had to reach out.

at the 1:00 you grab a black marker and make some really nice marks. Can I ask what you used there? I try using oil sticks and because of my texture it doesn't cover well. Thanks Love

"Compassion happens when the jewel of the mind rests in the lotus of the heart." I may be wrong but does this quote come from The Upanishads or Bhagavata Purana, maybe The Gita!! I have such a love for Hinduism and I know the phrase "lotus of the heart" is quite common in their scriptures! Either way it's such a lovely quote! ❤️ great work!
thank so much Priscilla - it is one translation for the mantra: Om Mani Padme Hum which is a Buddhist mantra. Yes, it is a beautiful quote. If you would like to receive my newsletters which I send every 3 weeks or so, please email me judy.cox13@gmail.com

Hey Judy What was it you used to make the Black lines to the right of you picture and the Black Thing you used before you began to paint.. Love your art.
thank you soooo much for the great compliment. I used charcoal and black oil paint. BTW - if you would like to be added to my email list for occasional newsletters, just email me you email - judy.cox13@gmail.com
hi Ian, Sorry for the delayed response. Thank you soooo much for the compliment. I have too many influences to write. I love art of all kinds and believe every time I view art, it goes into an unconscious part of my brain that holds it and comes out when I paint. Do you paint? Are you on instagram?? if so message me jhc_artist so I can see what you do.
Judy Hintz Cox I’ve just been watching so many videos about this on RU-vid and it just popped up...I’m a newly obsessed painter looking for my ‘voice’ so to speak...these videos really help so thank you
Judy Hintz Cox I will! As soon as I can put something decent together lol I will definitely email you...thank you for the offer and keep up the great work!

I gotta admit her paintings actually look like something, an abstract landscape or at least something that gives way for thought and interpretation. But I will NEVER understand an artist that draws something, just to fucking paint all over it with a single color and calls it done.
Lines and scribbles are usually added and then covered to add depth, texture and detail to the painting. It’s all apart of the process; adding and taking away.
@@Jennifer-ex5wy It is not so clever to critisize other peoples art.... let anyone draw and paint full of freedom! You have not to look at this video, when you not want to.... I love abstract painting and I adore realistic painting! :-)
Not true - I can draw extremely well, but I love doing loose, colourful paintings, that sometimes are abstract and sometimes not - depends how it takes me. Don't be so quick to judge.
@@Jennifer-ex5wyIt is ignorant to assume that people do abstract art because they “can’t draw.” Many artists who draw and sketch do abstract, as well. I did sketching and scenery for years but appreciate abstract art so much more because it’s an entirely different experience.
Not true it’s a preference that’s all I’m an artist n I luv creating abstract painting bc there r no rules n It doesn’t have to make sense it also never boring.
I must confess I did read the comments - no wonder this world is falling apart - climate change is happening because people are defending this absurd and totally unnecessary adventure into what you can do with paint - this has been done multiple times it should be apparent it is not going to do anything but what it does stain a surface - please stop admiring this kind of stuff maybe these so-called artists will finally stop and do something sensible like rake the garden or clean the house or learn a craft like knitting - Jesus no wonder assholes like Trump can become president.
She’s creating, having fun and yes, selling her work. What are you doing, Gavin? Leaving hateful comments about her work on the internet 😂 What a winner!
@paul w to be fair it is just smudged grey paint. i think i drove over one of these paintings earlier on the way past a construction site. maybe i should have framed it and asked for $1500
@@junglebunny5673 Anyone who thinks this is easy to do should try doing it themselves. Many great painters start out by doing meticulous drawings and paintings, but then find they need to go beyond "pictures" to express themselves with more raw emotion, more depth.
@@judithtoler128 Yes. that's right Judith, I've been an abstract painter for almost 30 yrs and for me it is the only meaningful way to express emotions/concepts.
I guess any one can call themselves an artist. Look at Jim Carrey. I’m sorry. I’ve been a artist 50 years love all kinds of creativity in the arts but when do you just say WTF, PLEASE. IV SORED PAINTINGS BETTER THEN THAT. Who’s Buying her art. I guess Those that can’t paint buy.
Everyone is an artist to some degree or another. Everyone is a chef to some degree or another. There are many things in life that “anyone” can do but not everyone chooses explore and grow within the subject. You say you’ve “been an artist for 50 years”, so surely you would understand that art is a broad subject. There is an audience for all types of art. Just because it’s not your style does not mean it’s unworthy.
