Because she is underage. Child protective service is getting notifyed ,by police,and it will be consequenses. But an attempt to try her as a adult would be dismissed. But i bet she will get a issue when she get old enough to try to have a licence. She is not off the hook,but she is still a child,so mother has the burden to pay off all the bills. Mother is partly at fault. Dont let key lay around when you have a young teen in opposision against rules.

'She came in at 7:30, and I was asleep and she WOKE me.' That explains why the daughter did not call her mom, mommy does not like to be woken up. 'I went into mommy mode'. Which did not include taking her daughter to a doctor to make sure she was okay. In the stress of an accident, people may not feel injured till hours later or even the next day.

Not necessarily. I have know my brother in law since I was 8 and he was real trouble. He was involved in gangs and used drugs. He turned his life over to Jesus and became a completely different person in his mid 20’s. He is now in his late 60’s and is one of the most decent people I have ever known. The change in him was immediate once he became a Christian. His Christianity is real.

Kid got an asthma attack because she was running from the cops after playing grand theft auto and crashing into people. Her mom didn’t call the cops because she didn’t want to incriminate her kid, nor did she want to rat herself out for not having insurance. I’m sorry for the plaintiff and hope she recovers mentally from this whole unfortunate experience. I wish the girl could have been made to work and buy her a brand new car.

One thing I used to hate but now appreciate about my dad is whenever something like this happened he'd ask me to go through everything step by step to understand what really happened, make sure I was okay and that I wasn't lying or trying to push the blame on someone else. If a minor steals a weapon, which is later used in a crime, the parent(s) can & usually are charged as well. The charge is: "Being unaware of a youth family member (son or daughter) that has stolen your weapon. You, as the owner, are charged to keep it 110% in your control or on your persons. Failing to know where a weapon is, that has been used in a crime, is sad & usually will not end up well for that parent(s)".
