What is your opinion on Jugger chain builds? Do you have tested other variants? Let us know in the comments! A Howto on advanced Chain playing techniques: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m0RzGySfebE.html
I believe the first filament chain was Jonas Kopka (playing with Setanta at the time, now with Rigor Mortis) at the 2016 Irish tournament. By the Waidhaus DM 2 weeks later, we were already seeing a lot of filament chains.
Thanks! Witness sources like yours are most valuable, since it is still quite hard to keep a good track record of many things happening in Jugger :) But indeed we also had a fllament build in Sweden around that time, but it's hard to remember the exact year.
The important bit is that Filament seems to have been sort of a very work-heavy inter, ediate solution just before the strap chains became popular, which quilckly had been replaced by tube solutions themselves.
For people who are to lazy to stuff all the filling into a tube chain: You can buy ready padded material. They are sold as "soft longe", which are leaches for horses or big dogs. Its not round but usually has a roughly rectangular crosssection. In my opinion not much better or worse than a filled tube, but much easier to make.
@@Jugger_Coach I found it helpful to do it with a wet tube. You should wash them either way before cutting them to length, so they are wet already. was a less than 10 minute task afterwards.
Depends. We use foam balls, so they do bounce, but not too much. You may check out the "International Chain Favourites" video in this channel, there are some who use the "bouncyness" for some devious trick shots.
@@toxicraccoon3106 There is the streching video with a fellow physiotherapist, those exercises are especially important for chain player, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NuwVyW1EIdU.html and the 3-part Chain Learning 101 series: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m0RzGySfebE.html A video specifically on streching for Jugger is in the queue but depends on weather and availability of our physio.
I would like to see a video about the history of playing against chains! You talked about how much it hurt or how "enjoyable" it is to get hit with modern chains, but how did the game change as an anti-chain player?
I am looking forward to it and hope it happens! I can only speak from my experience, but I feel that was a radical change between anti-chain when the chains were chains and anti-chain now - chains are faster, they shoot (as opposed to swing) more accurately and because of this more often, they are lighter, they bounce, they wrap a lot faster.... So there are pros and cons (at least I think so) and I would love to hear someone else's opinion, especially someone with a lot more play time than me!
@@erinsolomon2210 @Erin Solomon That does wrap up some core points quite nicely, I think! Thanks for the idea, it would be cool to include such a comparison ... let's see how this Jugger tournament season goes with Corona restrictions and such ... and how many opportunities there will be for completing the videos.
