Jujutsu Kaisen Almost Broke Me 

The brain rot backlash in the community after 261 is generational. That should have been the title tbh.

Yuta potentially sacrificing his life to do this is what hurts me the most. Gambling any chance he had to recover, throwing away his humanity, and betting it all on finishing things within five minutes, in order to protect everyone else is just a further display of his love.

Yuji is already a monster he said it himself that he'd do anything to defeat sukuna. He even ate his own brothers.

I think this is me being a fujimoto GLAZER, but I loved this chapter off rip. Yujo is such an insane twist that it left me reeling and the flashbacks after were such an amazing gut punch

Gojo is so special that he needs three confirmations that he's dead. Sukuna's off screen dismantle, Gege directly commenting about it in his box, and Yuta copying Kenjaku's stitches.

What I think I like most about 261 is that while it is absolutely fucked up what these characters have to endure in this world it is extremely true to the world and characters. Yuta has been pulled between two things since volume zero, Rika and his search for a sacrificial death, and protecting his friends at any cost. And the events of this chapter is the natural progression of that. In terms of the world, it is admirable that the declaration Gege made in chapter 2 (via Gojo's conversation to Yuji) that Jujutsu sorcerers have short and shit lives where them being found chopped to pieces could be conceived as a "decent outcome" is stuck to and Gege had the guts not to make the characters an exception. And that is what a lot of authors fail to do that Gege does not. Sukuna is touted as the greatest sorcerer of all time who ran the gauntlet in the strongest era and came out on top and what does he do when things turn his way in the present? The exact same thing. Do Jujutsu sorcerers lives suck in this world? Nobara, Nanami, Yuji, Megumi, Gojo... the list goes on... shows that that truth at the core of the world didn't change just because this is the part of the story we are following. 261 is a great chapter, but the weight it gives by confirming the stakes and tragedy of the characters to the rest of the story is fantastic.

I have to be honest and say that this reveal, this twist, is probably my favorite in the last couple of arcs of the entire series, probably the best since the "ENCHAIN" moment. A lot of the twists and reveals that Gege has done recently( Todo's return, Miguel's arrival, Higuruma basically not mattering in this fight at all despite all the hype and prominence he got) had left me pretty cold on the series but this moment is *peak* JJK in both drama and internal consistency and I pretty much love everything about it. I love what it says about the characters, the relationships they share, the idea of what it means to be a monster and the necessity of being used for the sake of the 'greater good' even in death, the inherent inhumanity and unfairness a situation like this brings up, it's all so, *so good*. I complain about how Gege writes a lot but this is an example of why we stick by him regardless because he can write his ass off when it comes down to it. It's a reveal and twist with build up, it's logic as to when, where ands why it happen and why it wasn't revealed til now, and it builds on preestablished themes and ideas in an engaging and invocative new way. If you are *primarily* a Gojo fan over being a JJK fan or primarily a Yuta fan in general I can see how this turn of events can hurt, but as a fan of the series on the whole? Gege, you one eyed monster you got me back on the horse.

I haven't read the comments so I'm not sure if someone already came up with this, but: what if Kenjaku can preserve himself (soul?) through his technique? Like he changed the body so many times he transcended it, and became synonymous with his technique (maybe through Mahito's CT or something idk). Then, after 5 minutes expire, he is the one in control of Gojo's body? A big stretch but the shock value would be sick.

I will never read another anything by gege again. I like jjk but idk bout this. Ig we’ll see how it plays out. Either way taking Gojos powers isn’t really a big move by yuta. It just shows that nobody can be strong like Gojo so they have to bestow the same fate that geto had. Worst case for Gojo AND yuta because it shows yuta can’t live up to the hype like everyone told him.

This whole development and the themes of Sukuna's conflict echo someone like Ito Ittosai from Vagabond. However, where Ittosai is still stuck in the samsaric cycle of nurturing and seeking out the strong because few if any can match him (Ittosai is always "hungry") Sukuna is almost like something Ittosai might call a buddha. He is the desire for combat and sorcery freed to explore any and all forms of Jujutsu. Still, if someone is willing to heed the words "Become Me" Sukuna knows he will be eating good. That's what's so exciting to me about chapters like this. Gege is able to convey to us the pain struggle and sacrifice of our main characters, all the while letting us experience the visceral blood pounding joy of seeing Jujutsu combat at its finest and most twisted, the same flavors Sukuna himself enjoys. 10/10.

Kenjaku started the horrific Shibuya incident and cullin games, then had the best fight of his life as well as unleashing the King of Curses on the world yet again. And possibly a merger? You don't have to be alive for your Opus Magnum.

Dude just put out a 15-min banger. Holy shit! This is why Radman is kind of a monster all on his own. The idea that Gojo is so irrelevant as a person that Gege literally scooped him out and put someone else in the driver's seat is insane to think about. It really further asks the question of if he's him because of his abilities. Like you said, the shit is kind of heartbreaking and incredibly Gege since you can argue Gojo giving his consent as an acknowledgment on his part that, in the end, he really is just his Limitless abilities. Your point about Yuji was kind of cracked if we're being all the way real. If we consider what your saying, it gives the scene with Yuta during the Gojo fight a lot more context. When Yuta considers jumping in and helping Gojo (something he ultimately decides NOT to do) Yuji is the ONLY person that agrees that he should help. This is despite the fact that everyone gives their reasoning for why Yuta shouldn't. It's only when Kusakabe argues that he'll get in the way (iirc) that Yuji not press the issue. I also thought it was interesting that Sukuna not only immediately knew it was Yuta but also knew it WASN'T Gojo. For context, Gojo sees Kenjaku for the first time and has a mental freeze before saying that he knows it isn't Geto even if all evidence says otherwise. This, in my opinion, suggests Sukuna really is the only person to connect with Gojo after Hidden Inventory. Again, shout out to Radman. In a sea of people talking about this chapter he's literally the only person I've seen get to the heart of the matter. Gojo is pretty much dead. That's literally the point of this chapter. There's not going to be a Geto-takeover or a Toji-takeover. Gojo is gone. Kenjaku though...

With how Gege writes, I'm very sure there's a deeper reason why Yuji, the "main" character always gets sidelined. I'd love more of these chapter reaction videos, this was very very cool! As for Kenjaku's death, I'm pretty sure Gege's cooking smth regarding how his will shall be passed on. He is scientist at heart so of course he needs to guarantee his experiments proceed as planned.

JJK is like a DND game where everyone (including the DM) is power-gaming and using the most batshit insane cheese strategies which would break any and all immersion... ...if the DM didn't masterfully play along with it and incorporate the insanity back into it all

The only way Kenjaku returns is if there's more to his body hopping technique and Yuta using it was a mistake.

When the leaks for this chapter dropped I actually loved it instantly, but had some lingering resentments about Yuji being sidelined. However, seeing people talk about how Yuji would never stand for this plan because of his humanity while Yuta embraces being a monster for the sake of everyone, really makes me excited to see all of this will affect Yuji

He’ll first take out todo because limitless is the hardest counter to it (boogie woogie) and this the rest of his students will have to take him out which will lead into gojo finally seeing the next generation surpass him/ equal footing. That will be his moment like toji had with megumi last name. (I also believe it will be another parallel such as gojo wearing toji clothes, sukuna using gojo signal to open his domain. Also gojo was put on sukuna level they just have hax in different ways. Gojo win if sukuna didn’t hit with that binding vow, and loses if sukuna does. Sukuna is the only one we see who had a counter for gojo, what about the rest of the cast who is still using gojo to try to sit on top?) Prediction.

I know the Gojo situation is overshadowing it, but can we acknowledge Yuji is genuinely tweaking tf out rn. Going to crush Sukunas heart isn’t just a way to weaken him, there’s nothing but malicious intent and sadistic hatred behind that thought process. Remember, Sukuna ripped Yujis heart out, now he’s returning the favor. I’ve noticed that Yujis rage has been repressed for the most part basically since the exchange event, when todo told him to control and suppress it for now. In this fight though it seems like it’s bleeding into Yujis demeanor more and more. We saw in 213-15 that a berserk Yuji was capable of throwing Sukuna off even before the time skip. To me it’s pretty clear that Yujis anger will be the key to his next and likely final awakening, which is likely gonna be either right after the fight between Yujo(Yuta in Gojo) and Sukuna or after a potential todo death. Notice how in The conversation about becoming a monster Yuji is excluded. I think that was on purpose, he’s well on track to become the monster they were talking about, not only does it track with his recent demeanor but also still lets him beat Sukuna ideology wise, this isn’t good vs bad it’s a war, and Yuji fighting for the future and becoming a monster to ensure it comes to pass would be a great way to have him mirror Sukuna in the sense both would be. “Calamities” With all the hype around Gojo and now Yutas crazy ass piloting his body I refuse to let my goat Yuji go unappreciated As for Yuta… well shit no one can say he won’t stand on business even if it’s with gojos feet. Edit: for the inevitable people that will say “but Yutas already said HED become the monster” it’s pretty obvious Yujis situation and Yutas are very different and Yuji didn’t even know project flesh mech Gojo was even a thing. Yuji chose the path of the monster when he first stepped foot on the path of the cog. What happens to a tool has no one to wield it, and nothing left to fight for? What happens when a man turned tool rediscovers the depths of his rage? Edit 2: I don’t really agree with the perspective on Yuji. He hasn’t been considered truly human by jujutsu society once. When was the last time someone who wasn’t already an ally referred to him as anything other than Sukunas vessel? I think instead of the almost… bland moral grandstanding I personally see coming with any variation of Yuji winning by retaining his humanity or the cliche “good guy loses his shit and becomes an anti hero/villain” where he wins by becoming a worse monster than Sukuna, that we will see Yuji become an entirely new kind of monster. The kind that throws away his humanity for the sake of that humanity. He’s always seen himself as expendable, hell he’s a cursed object, he isn’t even categorized by CE as a human. Allowing himself to become a monster that can kill Sukuna for the sake of everything he believes in and all of those who made it possible for him to get this far would absolutely crush Sukunas ideology and mindset. Yuji would have gotten the strength of being a calamity, embracing the loneliness of strength, rejecting his humanity all for the sake of a world where he wouldn’t have to stay that monster.

9:02 meta reasonings will always be just that, mata reasonings. The idea that it's this uniqueness with Gojo solely as this human weapon when all of them are weapons. They're using Gojo no different than how Gojo use the kids to Foster these ideas weapons of change and in turn its come full circle now. This is the only fan base that has to do so much legwork to make sense of authors writing because of their fast-paced inconsistent writing style that is tackling glued together with half baked flashbacks vague retroactive explanations.

Kenny is gonna be back in 5 minutes because something something his soul information is now in Rika --> Yuta/Gojo so whan Yuta keels over, Kenny will take over and then Gojo can do the Geto/Kenny arm thing. I believe this will happen. This is my copium. Also, Kenny being back in Gojo's body gives an end goal for Megumi. That way Megumi can prove that he is indeed talented enough to win vs a Six Eyes Limitless user.

After sitting on it honestly, I think Kenjaku dying before he sees the merger happening is actually a really good conclusion to his character because of it being this person who has spent hundreds of years trying to achieve this one goal and him seeing it to completely is taking away from him at the last min by someone he considered inferior and in a very anti-climactic way. I feel like it being kinda a disappointment is (imo) the intended intent to their death and a very ironic way to kill of a character like Kenjaku.

Around 9:57 If it was pragmatism, why did he look angry? And even according to Gojo sounded angry? The answer, because he is sick of having to make this decision because no one wants to go as far as they should, no one was willing to achieve Gojo's dream of a group a generation of the strongest, so he has to become, even if temporarily the strongest alone and spit on Gojo's wishes, his idols wishes, which he understands.

I am still thinking thinking about this manga end's but I think Yuta will die now. Maybe we can get a Yuta and Maki team fight, where Gota sacrifices himself for Maki. This will give us a sort of Gogo and Toji team fight that ends with Gojo saving Toji (Maki) instead of killing him.

But I hate it, it sometimes feels like the writers of LOST are writing these and using cheap cliffhangers to keep people coming back. I never liked Gojo because of the "run to daddy" mentality that washes over the entire series from as far back as the goodwill event, so naturally on first read I was so mad to learn that even after death Satoru Gojo would continue to take main stage and sideline my favorite characters, after the dust settled a bit however I did start seeing the beauty in this chapter and you had some points I didn't even consider like the 5 minute timer. Also if nothing else the chapter is metal as fuck and that's enough for me

I refuse to believe a sorcerer who had spent 1000+ years making pacts and plans, putting them into action, persuading other sorcerers, manipulating events, experimenting, looking for Sukuna's brother's reincarnation to have sex with him, suffering through the pains of pregnancy for 9 months and giving birth, all to witness with his own two eyes the potential of humankind and a merger is totally fine with dying and has no backup plans. The king of plans didn't have a plan? Press X for doubt. Sure, others will "inherit" his will, whatever, but he made it way too clear during his conversation with Choso that he wants to witness this, see it, feel it, enjoy it. And if he comes back and says "All according to keikaku.", I'll believe him. Even if he appears on the very last page and says "This was truly our Jujutsu Kaisen.", I'll take it. Kenjaku is coming back. My theory? He turned himself (the brain) into a cursed object at the last minute. Rika ate him. And yeah, Rika ate one of Sukuna's fingers as well and she was fine, but that was just a small fragment of Sukuna. Rika could overpower one finger for sure, but the brain is all that's left of original Kenjaku. It's entirely him, "20 fingers" in one. We have no idea what might happen if that's the case, Kenjaku knows the power system better than Gege. And we already know he is the one who taught Sukuna how to turn himself into cursed objects, it would make sense to see the man himself do it once. I have no idea how it would play out though. This is all I could come up with to feed my delusion.

I’ve mentioned this in other videos, but 261 has been one of the most conflicting chapters for me because it’s the first time I’ve read a story, had no issues with its narrative structure, yet still feeling like something was horribly wrong. It really felt like Gege went beyond the page, looked us readers in the eye, and went “Oh, you want fucking Gojo back?! Here! Take him!” And proceeded to jingle Gojo’s desecrated corpse before us. I usually like to have evidence to justify why I don’t like something, but I have nothing 😂 all I have is this gut feeling.

I can believe the meme question Geto asked "Are you the strongest because youre Satoru Gojo, or are you Satoru Gojo because youre the strongest" is actually so relevant rn. The answer lies in the battle between Yuta and Sukuna, if Yuta wins, it means Gojo was merely the strongest for being born with his cursed technique and the six eyes, just a coincidence. But if he loses, it means there was something irreplaceable about Gojo, something only he had, that made him the strongest. I believe Yuta will lose, really nailing down the fact that Gojo was indeed, the strongest, because he was Satoru Gojo.

The character that’s been used as a weapon throughout the entire story actually gets used as a weapon🤯. Gege is a legit genius. He once again surprised everyone doing something no one expected, delivering a well thought out move that makes sense narratively that also continues the ongoing theme of sorcerers die tragically/ unsatisfied. Gege is actually brilliant.

They weren't kidding when they said Yuta is the next Gojo...

Gojo’s remains are also being used like Getos. A little more respect to the dead. After all Gojo was genuinely liked and Geto was a fugitive believed to be dead. A hostile sorcerer from an ancient time Kenjaku would have never made it this far without Geto who was written as one of the most relatable characters. If anything Kenjaku should have had an original body that he always needed to return to. Because I don’t feel like I still don’t really know this character. He has been schemed for 1000 years but was purposely kept less powerful than the series power houses but still above the main cast

I also really like how gege could explore geto's line of "Are you the strongest because you’re Satoru Gojo? Or are you Satoru Gojo because you’re the strongest?" because now that Gojo, the soul is out of the picture. We can finally see what made gojo the strongest, Himself. or his gift

When i was reading the leaks I couldn’t put my finger on it at first, it just felt wrong that Yuta took over his body. Like you said that’s the feeling Gege wanted to put ppl through and it worked effectively. Also I completely agree that there’s a meta commentary, majority the Gojo fan pages all wanted him back for selfish reasons. Just like in manga ppl were using him for selfish reasons, some of his stan’s never considered that their fav character was happy with being relieved as the strongest. Honestly Gege’s use of subtext, lil foreshadowing, and tying this chapter all back to one of the main issues of Jujutsu society being the main problem makes me excited to see what he got planned next

Yorozu's conversation coming back in such a twisted way is absolute peak. Both being characterized by their love of the "strongest" (in different ways obviously) along with other things is great. Especially for such a throwaway fight

261 is probably the most interesting chapter that Gege has created since the original higurama intorduction chapters in the culling games. I think Kenjaku's death was pretty clear. Albeit unceremonious. Dude was legitmately shocked he got snuck up on, got his head cut off and then for further proof that he was dying got his head stabbed. And several characters have confirmed the kill unlike Nobara. And the fact that he put he sukuna in charge of the merger is the most telling.
