This beautiful classical piece was written by Paraguayan composer and virtuoso classical guitarist Agustin Barrios Mangore (1885 - 1944). Agustin was famed for his phenomenal guitar performances. You can hear Julia Florida played by the top classical guitarists around the world. Each performer puts his or her own interpretations, nuances, fingerings and dynamics on this beautiful piece. I've crossed over from jazz to classical guitar two years ago and have never looked back. Playing the classical standards and Spanish influenced pieces pulls at my heartstrings every time I pick up my spruce or cedar.
After watching so many beautiful RU-vid videos of the masters playing these pieces, I recently decided to try my hand at recording using my iPhone. This opened my eyes as I can visually critique my myself as well. As such, not just learning the proper classical techniques but videography is a work in progress. Also, it’s a bit scary to publish myself. Two years playing equates to Grade 2 level but if I can take this leap, I hope it opens others on the same level to take the dive as well. One day when I’m retired, I hope to take proper lessons.
