I’m English but I live in Scotland. Part of me hopes that this is the beginning of end for the snp and their authoritarian wokeness but I fear she’ll somehow find a way to blame the English and use that to manipulate the emotions of Scotland to continue to vote for her. It doesn't matter what crime a man committed, and wether they think he is safe to go into a womans prison. A woman should never be in a cell with a man. There is no privacy and any man that is exposed to being alone with a woman can eventually take advantage of that. I just dont understand why the feelings of a few mentally disturbed men override the safety and the anxiety things like this cause to millions of women. If that's not male privilege I dont know what is.
You think one man being put into an all females prison is a danger to the women. I agree it's ridiculous. But let's not pretend that hundreds of sexually oppressed females are no match for one tiny man. Stop making your whole comment about a DANGER to women, and just focus on the privacy issues instead maybe.. Some women are also sexually violent, especially ones in prison with no men.
In the run up to future elections, anyone who is standing for election should have to make their opinions known on this matter. It would be interesting to see how many people like her get voted in.

As soon as we agreed that "gender" is anything except social biases and subjective perceptions, we agreed that a woman is anyone who wants to call themselves a woman. I am a gay man and I think this whole situation is gone out of their minds. Why would anyone think it is acceptable to house men who say they are women in a women's prison. Why do you need a risk assessment surely common sense needs to apply? I am shocked that people think that trans women and people who identify as women are actual women. Do you notice all these gay men that say trans women are real women when they are looking for a surrogate not sure how far they would get as they obviously want a real woman? Do not think that all gay people go along with this nonsense as most normal ones don't.

It is difficult to refrain from becoming tribal about this - especially when that Lib Dem MP (and Nicola Sturgeon) are being dishonest about the fact that Transwomen are not women. It's not helping. Genuine people who suffer from gender dysphoria should be treated sensitively with professional counselling. Whenever I listen to Transwomen, they seem to all want validation by going into women spaces and doing women only activities with women present; therefore, I think, they need counselling; we should not sacrifice biological women's safety because of men's this desire/compulsion to be a woman by being around women. I don't think it is healthy for women to be subjected to that. Transwomen that have had the surgery shouldn't be in the female estate because they can assault a woman in other ways, he can forcibly kiss her and touch her; he can simply overpower her Transwomen that have committed non-voilent offences shouldn't go into women's prison either for the same reason and also because men are stronger than women, they will bully, intimidate and harass the women there, especially if they are attracted to a particular woman there. The dynamics in women's prisons will change because a man is there. Also, what about the safety of the female prison officers if they have to manage a physically stronger man, they may be in danger of rape themselves. What about Muslim women in jail, how is that going to work out. They really didn't think this through - none of them, including England; I notice that Wales has shut up about it now that this fiasco is unraveling.
Perhaps they ought to, then we might see what’s what…. Unfortunately though I don’t believe that as many women identifying as men commit crimes and get convicted as the other way round.
If it is indeed done on a case by case basis, then exactly how many 'non-trans women' with histories of sexual violence are placed in male prisons? I'd hazard a guess the answer is none. Because the only reason why you'd be put in a male prison is if you are male.

Women who are in prison generally have had very tough lives, often being victims of domestic abuse, sexual assaults etc and for me putting a biological man who is anatomically intact who has also committed rape and sexual assault against women who suddenly identifies as a woman only after being charged is utterly compromising those vulnerable women's welfare. It goes against the the BASIC duty a government is supposed to undertake and that is the protection of its citizens, in this case some of it's most vulnerable.
Perhaps Christine Jardine would like to experience sharing a prison cell with a man, sharing toilet facilities and showers. The women in prison are vulnerable and on the whole not able to do anything about being locked in with a male stranger overnight. Disgraceful in this day and age.
This is the question that all the women voters should ask candidates when they are canvassing at the next election and they should make sure that they record them as they do it😂
This MP is engaging in double-speak. In her mind it's okay to put a man, who self-ids as a woman, in a woman's prison if he is not accused of a sexual crime. Why are we putting any Males/Men in the Women's prison? It is always a safety issue for the Females in the prison.

The Hansard records should be aired in their entirety on primetime tv with in-depth discussion. The GRA was acknowledged as "bad law" from the start, all the very obvious hazzards & dangers to women were known from the get go but the MPs reckoned the tiny number - about 3,000 were expected - was too small to have a noticible impact on society in general & women in particular. Hindsight is a great thing. The GRA was only deemed necessary at all to comply with a Human Rights ruling regarding what would in effect be a ban on same-sex marriage, before that was legal in the UK. The GRA is a redundant piece of legislation. It is a legal fiction only, & a man with a GRC is simply a man with a piece of paper, he is not & never can be a woman. Women AND VAST NUMBERS OF MEN are sick to death of this dangerous nonsense. It all has to end. Now. We will only deal with & acknowledge scientific biological FACT, not legal fictions.
The question is being confused by the crime, because a women (adult female) who’s committed a serious sexual offence, assault, or murder against a woman would be in a women’s prison. Men (adult male) should only ever be in a men’s prison, regardless of what they’re convicted.
