Julia vs. Python when calculating lexical diversity

I measure the speed of Julia and Python when calculating the lexical diversity measure MTLD (Measure of Textual Lexical Diversity) on 230 million words.

Julia will outperform Python in almost any scenario, simply from design. It's not a good comparison though. A better one would be LuaJIT vs Julia since they're similar in syntax and in functionality.

It's interesting that in some tests in other videos I've created, Python has been faster than Julia, for example, in this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ct40H8wNIxw.html Thanks for the comment about LuaJIT. I haven't yet looked at that language.
