Free Julian Assange! You are absolutely right in exposing how little most media talk about this unspeakable injustice. What the US and its allies are doing with Julian Assange and in the Middle East is showing the entire world that human rights, international criminal law, freedom of speech and the protection of journalist doesn’t apply to them only to the rest of the world.
How about prison for corrupt criminal politicians, and not journalists? Or, is that the problem, when Collateral Murder showed war crimes and coverup scams, with responses to Court Martial those obeying the law, and shield the actual criminals?
This is not for just Journalists but for all citizens of the world this persecution of Julian will have serious consequences for citizens of the world ..who will never ever hear the truth .
@homayounshirazo9550 Your comment: "(The speaker makes a) Beautiful comparison to Julian Assange and Gabriel Garcia Marquez work of literature " And my comment: O America, you and your diabolical military-industrial complex, that among other evils - like starting wars and killing millions worldwide - sucks the very life blood out of the American people (money not spent on education or infrastructure, etc.). God help America. God help us all.
Not just journalists; but anyone that values truth and the beauty found in its expression. I have been dumbfounded by the lack of supportive energy for Julian's COURAGEOUS actions. Thank you for Speaking up We've left him to stand alone for all these years "the bill" will come due and we will have to pay it ... God bless these States of United Corporations and ... #END🇸🇩GENOCIDE #Free🥀Palestine🩷
You know how it goes. A lot of people are unhappy but nobody will do anything about it. Too focused on trying to get by or by a phone in their face to look around and organize against the corporate state.
@@dianal.clausen8118 after the strike, that’s the point, no news until he’s out. It impacts journalism the most and I don’t think their doing enough when they could have a huge impact
Julian Assange told the truth and gets persecuted for it, Bush told lies and put out propaganda which ended up costing money and lives for what . No more wars Vietnam lost Iraqi. loss Israel backing a mess. All these plus so many more. Costing the American Gov and people so much, Oil, Gas, Weapons Money Has the loss of lives real been worth it. Why meddle in other countries let’s sort out our own country
@@peppipoohductionswakashunt3157most "journalists" do not serve the people by holding those in power to account. they work on behalf of powerful to propagandize us. its no surprise they havent stood up for a real journalist
“We do not believe any group of men adequate enough or wise enough to operate without scrutiny or without criticism. We know that the only way to avoid error is to detect it, that the only way to detect it is to be free to enquire. We know that the wages of secrecy are corruption. We know that in secrecy error, undetected, will flourish and subvert.” ― J. Robert Oppenheimer, The Open Mind
Unfortunately I don't think there'll be as much backlash as you expect. People in the west are too cozy or preoccupied with their own personal issues or with more fashionable ideological battles.
Chris Hedges says he fights fascism, not because he will win, he's fights it because its fascism. He's a brilliant thinker and writer. In his 2009 book, Empire of Illusion, he pretty much foretold the future. In a different time when the stakes were much different, I loved his message. Now that I have seen how he endlessly acts to undercut the democratic party, not a perfect entity, but the only thing that can stop the fascist march in the United States, I can't really see the world as Hedges sees it. I don't see how Putin could make a more perfect agent of chaos in a lab then what Hedges has become. Look what Trump and the Republicans have planned for us. And Hedges uses his time to add another layer to fog to confuse people as to the real threat. In the early and mid twenty teens I could agree with Hedges. Now I think he has left common sense behind or could even be a Russian asset.
Trump won't help him. At least that's what he said once. I disagree. Punitive action toward a honest person is criminal. It's happening to me so I know.
But why has the mass support for Assange failed so far? Hasn’t there been far too much appeal to the “conscience” of the very forces that are directing the persecution? What about those in the media who participated in the vilification of Assange? Hedges liberalism cannot explain and thus he offers nothing but resignation.
