Thanks to Julian & his guitar player (whom ever that is), I now have a trio of first rate fave V.U. song covers: Rainy Day's "I'll Be Your Mirror," Cowboy Junkies "Sweet Jane," & Casablancas' "Run Run Run." Too bad Lou's not here to appreciate this one.

+Hermesacat apparently the backing band for this was formed by lee ranaldo of sonic youth, so maybe thats him on guitar :)

+martha Nice. Sounds very plausible. Thanks for the info. I love Sonic Youth. One of my fave guitar moments by anyone ever is Lee's unusual sounding slide guitar he plays on SY's "Expressway to Your Skull" (a.k.a "Madonna, Sean, & Me).

+martha I learned that "sexy" guitar effect on that song is Lee playing slide 'cause I came across a live video of SY playing the song (findable on yt somewhere) and there's Lee playing that part. Lots of fine SY albums out there to hear, even if the band may, sadly, have gone defunct by now : (

oh cool, I'll have to start digging through live videos of them. I always seem to get into bands way too late after they've split up or are past their prime sadly, I wasn't even alive for the most part of sonic youth's career. At least Julian is still going strong :)

This is a Lou Reed composition from The Velvet Underground's 1967 debut "Banana Peel" album. Casablancas' (of The Strokes) cover is from the short lived HBO series "Vinyl". Despite the big name backing the show failed to catch an audience and lasted just one season. At first listen this may seem almost like a straight remake but it has a much fuller sound which serves the song well in my opinion.
