Why isn't this young man signing in all the top houses is totally beyond me. The best baritone voice out there today. Kind of a cross between a young Mac and Cappuccilli. Excellent technique, placement and diction, and the boy can act.........
This is doubly tragic because here at San Francisco opera the cast have been getting consistently weaker, The top European stars come less and less often. We should filling up the roster with all the wonderful young Asians. We would have better casts and lower expenditures.
He sings with such confidence and authority. Almost to the point where he's overdoing it. Great tone, power and pianissimo passages. And vitally, he can act. This guys got just about everything.
bellissima voce ! poco naturali questi pianissimi che stanno distruggendo l'emozione giusta... ci sono dei momenti dove questo bravissimo ragazzo sta gridando un po' ma visto che e' giovanissimo ha tutto il tempo per studiare e imparare . bravo ! ps. un Artista lirico vero non deve cantare mai i pianissimi come uno corista ...
Buonasera, sono un giovane basso-baritono e sono un suo ammiratore. Confesso, ogni volta che devo incominciare a guardare un video "X" guardo prima se c'è prima il suo commento (che a mio parere è giusto secondo il mio modo di pensare sul canto lirico), perciò le vorrei chiedere se non le creo disturbo, uno scambio di idee sul suo modo di pensare sul belcanto e sui cantanti lirici odierni. Grazie e spero vivamente in un suo riscontro positivo.

On the strength of this one video recording I'm tempted to say that he is the best Verdi baritone alive. But I haven't heard him live on stage in the complete opera. Why is that? It isn't for lack of asking. I keep writing about all the great Asian opera singers but no one ever seems to cast them here at San Francisco opera. The opera companies continue to cast black singers but the talent pool for blacks is much smaller than that for Koreans and very few blacks are interested in the music.
This guy is pretty much fantastic. He kind of sounds like kapuccili and he does not push. Unfortunately, most of the people nowdays does not know this guy even exists.
