Totally, I don't think I've ever heard a guitarist that can get me to hang on every note like Julian. There's such a sense of play in his, well... playing that simultaneously heightens and hypnotizes. He has such an ear for ear-bending dissonance and satisfying resolve, and the fact that he seems to navigate songs with pure intuition as opposed to memory or consciously applied theory makes it feel like his musical ideas are inexhaustible. He just feels his way through and has an uncanny ability to immediately translate thought to sound.

Tone, tone, tone. No matter what guitar or amp his tone is instantly recognizable. Even when he is playing bluegrass on an acoustic. To me that is the holy grail. He sounds like himself, therefore he is a genius. Thank you Julian!

had some acid last week and listend on spotify to his new album when I came home after a long walk. This tune came up and after a minute I turned around to have a look for the name of this song and was quite confused as I felt immedeately like listening to an unfamiliar flower. Just then the lovely bee found the flower it was looking for, had a little party around it and followed its purpouse. Absolutley fantastic!!

It’s hard to articulate, but if something could be simultaneously heavy AND light this tune would be it! The whole band retains so much crispness and snap, even when they are really digging in. Julian sounds wonderful on this, but I’m most impressed with the sound of the rhythm section.

Which tunes specifically? I can tell you this sounds like a bit like early John Mclaughlin, e.g. anything off Extrapolation.

It just hit me; Julian plays guitar like Myles Davis played trumpet. Very similar musical styles. Only Julian does it on a polyphonic instrument. Love it!!!
