Every time I listen to this song with my headphones in, the applause at the beginning pierces my ear drums. Every single time. I still haven't learned.
beautiful. the tempo is perfect (a lot of people like to take it pretty fast)and he pays a lot of attention to the dynamics. a very moving performance! bravo!
Julian is as good as the best of them; he plays with acute sensitivity and feel for the music, a reverence, great beauty too, often, almost understatement, which gives an added strength and allure, even a sense of vulnerability, which heightens admiration for his remarkable talent and skill.
The despair of the restraint of pathos gives a subtle beauty to his interpretation, when its explodes and return with more dispair than ever - but still repressed...The best performance of this piece in my opinion
Julian! My childhood hero! It's the 1980s I am in primary school and I saw julian play! Thought wow! Had my first cello at 9 years just landed on British soil as a child of migrant parents! 😍 fell in love with my cello at first sight!
wow, he is absolutely amazing...this interpretation of the piece is so mesmerizing to listen to..fantastic, i love his intimacy within the music, and the look of sincerity when he plays...wonderful..
ohhh......my......god that was so beautiful. his tone was warmand full and he played it so well. i strive to be like him. plus he had an outstanding cello
Webber plays with such fidelity to the composer, clarity and directness. He puts his person in service to the music. An example of clean virtuosity for me.
This is music. Music is all about sharing emotions and if you tell me this didn't give feel anything, you're an emotionless bastard. This is real music.
A very exqusite interpretation.Velvet and tears.Ashes and a profond, painful sense of the end of things..that so,and another more,is an Elegie. Something dies...something is borning from the deep mystery of Death.... Julian, you're wonderful in all the aspects... Not only your hair and your talent... ankhsnammon
I can only dream that when I play this piece in January at the Young Artist Competition I can get within a shadow of how amazingly Julian played this piece. My cello teacher is trying to get me to play with this kind of intensity, and I plan to work even harder on it now that I have heard this! Hopefully if I can even do a third as well as he did I can win the $1000 prize. Wish me luck! Julian is an inspiration to me!
I couldn't have said it better, Robbcarson. While I am certainly not one to shun or dislike metalcore, this song does have a meaning to it and if now-drunk and half dead headbangers wish to find refuge to the burning in their ears they are welcome to the calm peace that this music gives.
I'm learning this piece right now and have made such an improvement by listening to this recording of it. It reminds me of all the good times I had with my grandma. Thank you for making this :)
All music is music. You can listen to and enjoy anything you want, and nobody has the right to judge you or look down on you for it. I like music in dozens of different styles - from Elizabethan polyphony, Baroque and Classical, to rock, metal, folk, and even a little trance and hip-hop. Love whatever you love and don't worry about what's " the best" or "real" music, because music is a personal thing.
AMAZING!! Simply astonishing. Brilliant work Julian. As I am also playing this piece, I am amazed at Julian Lloyd's ability to express in this beautiful piece by Faure. He plays especially well in the second phrase.
OMG!! i have absolutely fallen in love with this song! i cant get enough the beginning is beautiful the whole song is absolutely beautiful, this makes me want to learn cello, i play the flute and i definantly wouldnt mind learning cello its beautiful
Just enjoy it, instead of comparing this version and that version. I like Webber, Ma, Du Pre, but when my 12 yo plays this, it brings tears to my eyes.
The principle cellist in our college's orchestra got an arrangement of this piece for 8 cellos, so he had to round a bunch of us up to run it for him. It was fantastic.
My teacher gave this piece to me to play as my solo, and now I am thoroughly terrified. This is beautiful though. If I can pull it off, I will feel so incredibly accomplished.
This song gives me goosebumps! i love it so very much! I can imagine Edward playing the piano, Rosalie playing the cello, and Bella singing magical, beautiful words to a star-struck audience of thousands.
@MickeyBug8 Good luck playing Faure's Elegy at the competition! My love is having a piano concert this Wednesday. She has never heard me at a concert or competition before, so I'll be playing the Elegy at Wednesday's concert as a surprise for her. This recording has inspired me to do so! I wish you all the best in your cello studies.
Try this! As a cellist myself I find it amazingly relaxing to sing cello parts. When you listen try to match the pitch of every note. See how easy it is! cause the cello has a timbre closest to that of the human voice, neat huh? Bravo Julian!
