That was so awesome to see Julianne Moore come back for a short visit. Not only is she a great actress, but she has never badmouthed her soap roots, and I respect her even more for that.
I read once that this was something Ms. Moore has been dying to do--reunite with her original onscreen parents (Don Hastings and Kathryn Hays)--so cool that she never forgot where she came from!
Kim isn't her Bio Mother. She's her Aunt. Frannie's real Mother was the Late Jennifer Hughes. Km and Bob had an affair and Kim thought her Child Died but it was adopted by a British Family named Fullerton.
If there was ever a reason to save a soap from cancellation, the fact that a mega movie star wanted to come back to where it all began is reason enough!
How fitting that Julianne Moore returned before the show goes off the air. Frannie Hughes was a much beloved character, and you can tell that Julianne Moore was happy to be back. I got a little teary eyed when Frannie came through the door.
Even now, a few years later I still get a little misty eyed when Frannie (Julianne Moore) comes through the door at the last minute. I really miss ATWT and all the wonderful denizens of Oakdale. They are missed.
Yes. In the UK there's Jenna Louise Coleman who as you know played Victoria on The Miniseries on PBS. From 2005 to 2009 she played Jasmine Thomas who was in a Teen Romance with Debbie Dingle on Emmerdale which this year celebrates their 45th Anniversary. A lot of fans hope she will come back but probably not.
It's really lovely that Julianne Moore returned as Frannie, a role she played from 1985-1988. However, it would have been just as moving if they had brought back the beautiful actress who played Frannie for two years before Ms. Moore did - that would have been blond haired, blue eyed Terri VandenBosch, who played opposite Marisa Tomei, Christian LeBlanc and Breck Jamison. Terri was a different kind of Frannie.....less intense, a lighter take on the role. Unfortunately, Terri passed away in 2009. She wanted to return as Frannie on ATWT, if only they had asked over the years. RIP beautiful Terri VandenBosch..............my wife.
This is SO awesome that Julianne came home. She seems as happy to see everyone as they are to see her. I'm getting misty eyed. I love her and I love this show. I'll miss it when it's gone.
Even though I know JM played Frannie as Overjoyed To Be home But it Also rang True That Julianne Seemed To Be Overjoyed To Be In Scenes with Don Hastings (Bob) & Kathryn Hays (Kim) Again
A couple of days ago, Sarah Lancashire got an honorary award at the National Television Awards (NTE) for her work over the years. Like alot of folks she also got her start on Soaps most notably Coronation Street 1991-1996 whose parents wrote for the show back in the day. I told UK Soap Fans about how Julianne Moore made an appearance during the show's last week. They were very impressed. Also Actors from Downtown Abbey, Victoria and Granchester also got their start on Soaps.
Because most of the time Actors don't like acknowledging heir Soap Opera Past. As you know Julianne was the Hostess of Masterpiece Theater predecessing Laura Linney. Many of the Actors who appeared on Downton Abbey, Granchester & Victoria are Soap Graduates. Rob James Collier and Joanna Froggat were on Coronation Street at different times, Kacey Ainsworth who plays Kathy on Granchester was on EastEnders as Maureen Slater Jr., aka Little Mo and Jenna Louise Coleman was on Emmerdale from 2005-2009 before playing Victoria. Coronation Street, EastEnders and Hollyoaks will be celebrating their 60th, 35th and 25th Anniversary respectively next year. William Roache now surpassed Don Hastings (Ex Dr. Bob Hughes) as the longest running UK Soap Actor in TV History as Ken Barlow that he played since it's debut on Coronation Street on December 9, 1960. Sadly December 9th as you know was the day that John Lennon died.
@appleridge That was my impression as well. @uamusme77 Yes, it's always nice when actors don't shun their soapy pasts. Julianne was great on ATWT. You're either a good actor or you're not. "Soap actor" is inherently pejorative. Many primetime and film actors stink! Thanks for posting lilacstar1! I wish I could give you 5 stars but you know........
I'm glad that they're bringing back a bunch of former characters to the show, like Frannie and Sierra, and also that the same actors/actresses are portraying them. I hate that this soap is being taken off, and I will completely stop watching CBS once ATWT is gone. After they scrapped GL this became my only reason for watching. I hope that they realize that they're going to lose a lot of viewers after this show is gone, and they could never find anything as good to replace it with.
I wish both gl and atwt could have been on another network, lifetime, soapnet, oxygen even if the just had a episode a week. Its sad that a part of history is now over. I dont watch that stupid game show or talk show. CBS how could you do this.
Lmao...I just can't buy into it! She's too big of an actress that being on a soap opera dissolves the onscreen illusion! All the while I'm thinking, "That’s Julianne Moore." She's sitting on the couch, "That's Julianne Moore." She's talking about how much she loves her parents, "BS...that's Julianne Moore!" Talk about being star struck!
She didn't even "Hug" Big Brother Tom or Little Brother Chris. Weren't she, Andy and Chris like the Three Musketeers back in the day considering that Frannie and Andy helped bring Chris into the World.
