In this clip from www.artistshousemusic.org - Julia Michels is an independent music supervisor. She describes the responsibilities and work involved in a film project for a music supervisor.
The ACTUAL reality of a music supervisor is lunching ad agency producers, who send you on a wild goose chase to find and clear some ridiculous options, when in the end they turn around and after some changes and have about £1,000 which becomes a sloppy library music job. In reality it's a graft, you're up against it daily and brands, ad agencies the lot act like they know music because they listen to Spotify! Be prepared to lose your social life as you spend it schmoozing at industry events (which can be very painful) or the odd gig from the label (which isn't too bad). No idea why this was in my recommended but thought it worth my tuppence.
