Julmis falls in hurdles and finishes the race 

Sure, it's funny when you see the memes but this guy trained his entire life for that moment AND he's from Haiti. Imagine his struggle to survive much less the task of becoming an Olympic athlete. Imagine his disappoinment as he literally saw the competition run away from him as the entire world watches. Much respect to him.

Poor guy been training hard for 4 years every day for this race and he accidentally stumbled into it

In his ted talk he explains that the spectacle of being at the games got the better of him. His coach told him to not look around simply go and set up his blocks and he’d be ok. He didn’t listen and started looking around and he wasn’t focused on competing and this is part of the reason why he choked.

I can relate i did this at a high school track meet and i just had to get up and do the run of shame truly. I admire him. It’s not easy to keep going after doing that.

I was a hurdler in college. Every hurdler has had this happen. Julmis showed real class by getting up and finishing. He did a great job representing his country.

LOL, I can't help laughing...this guy didn't just fall, he ran straight through the hurdle, somersaulted, wrapped around the hurdle, and carried it with him to the next hurdle. Honestly the most spectacular hurdle fall I've ever seen, especially for it being the very first hurdle of the race.

it's beautiful ... a Haitian athlete got to the Olympics. he's thirty years ... it's definitely an incredible experience. not give up!!

That was me freshman year of hurdles. My coach was like “hey I like this kid” and he put me in hurdles without ANY training whatsoever! So I winged it every time (falling over most of the hurdles). Now I’m a sophomore, I just lettered on varsity cuz he trained me over the summer! He saw I didn’t give up despite him not training me. (He couldn’t training me as a freshman cuz he was the only coach and he wanted his senior dudes to score points). So in conclusion, “it’s not about how many times we fall, it’s about how many times we get back up”-idk

I fell on my last hurdle in my race today and was really bummed. But this really helped to motivate me to get it next time

I think it's important that he got up and finished the race eventhough there was cero chance of winning (or avoiding last place for that matter). But he did prove that he actually can jump hurdles and that the first one was just a lapse in concentration.

Credit to him for finishing the race. I know some people who would have quit/DQ right there and then.

I was doing 110 high hurdles in high school. I made it over the first 2 hurdles and proceeded to fall over every single hurdle the rest of the race. So I feel this.

one day I fell while doing hurdles I stepped on the hurdle and fell. I didn't give up and finished the race.

the moment he started running I knew he couldn't jump, Idk why, but just look at how he ran at the beginning, what happened there?

You can see from the start what went wrong...the gun went off and his legs were like led as they were never getting off the ground and it was clear he would hit the first hurdle and his legs never got up and his feet never left the ground. This is classic overconfidence nerves grand posturing results in disaster in performance.
