Hello and welcome to Next Stop News, a Branch of the Smartquest devoted to informing my fan base and the transit community of events which occur throughout the month(s) which they cover.
This is July 2024's Other Systems Update, a continuation from where I left off in December 2023. This video addresses changes and developments within the Bee-Line System, NICE Bus, New Jersey Transit, PATH, SEPTA, WMATA, BART, DASH Bus, and other agencies, such as deliveries, retirements, fare adjustments, and other information. Thanks to the sheer volume of content, I found it necessary to separate Other Systems from the rest of the Updates.
Released on 7/2/24, for your viewing and listening pleasure. Hope you enjoy!

Notes: •Bee Line- Xcelsiors 145 and 511 were reported to have various issues in early March. •NICE Next Gens left: 1810-1811, 1815, 1817-1818, 1824 (6) •Suffolk- As I was recently informed, Next Gen 1011 is now at EBT. •SEPTA- 8075 and 8083 were the final D40LFs in regular service. They retired between 3/12-3/13/24 on Route 15. 8093 was the ceremonial retirement unit. Similar situation to the MTA with its RTSs back in 2019. Great video Techno! Just a few things/errors I noticed in the SEPTA part... 1. The M4 'derailment' that was reported at York-Dauphin wasn't actually a derailment. After crews inspected the train and the tracks, they found that the train had never left the tracks. Instead, the lead car (1218) had a mechanical issue that resulted on the train stalling out while it was going around the curve. Also, the picture of the scene shown in the video is actually my picture that I took lol. 2. Our XHE40 order has been met with many issues and worker concerns, therefore it is uncertain in the order will be completed. 3. Our new XDE40s are in fact not having a good time, as there are a few that are OOS from accidents. 3429 isn't one of our brand new ones though, it is apart of the older Xcelsior order. All new Xcelsiors are numbered between 3525-3864. Currently the newest one in revenue service is 3694, but we have up to 3715 on septa property. 4. People have been saying our last diesel unit to retire was 8093, but that's not true. Technically speaking, our last D40LF to retire was 8075, which last ran in revenue service on route 15 on March 12th, and the second to last D40LF 8083 last ran on route 15 as well on March 10th. 8093 has been out of revenue service since June of 2023, it had already been retired, and put into the Midvale scrapyard. Then all of a sudden, they decided to pull a random D40LF that was in good condition out of the scrapyard to use for the retirement event. That bus happened to be 8093. It would've made more sense to use 8083 or 8075, as they had just been taken out of service, but that's just septa for ya. 8093 was basically just there so that the general manager could announce publicly that we retired our last diesel, but the REAL last D40LF to retire was 8075! It's very sad seeing these buses go, but hopefully they decide to preserve one. I know this is kind of long, but I hope it kind of gives some clarification. If anyone has anything to add/correct me feel free to let me know!

Man... Washington Township kept crashing their 18000-series cruisers due to being overworked, and the significant loss of 16003, which was a demo bus, crashed in 2022 after it was reassigned from Egg Harbor. But at least one of their 18000-series cruisers are being transferred to Wayne.

Regarding SCT, Orion VII NG Bus #1011 has moved to another operator which is EBT Inc. It was seen operating on Route 1 on June 24th in a YT Vid. Also, besides buses 7109-7112 staying at Hampton Jitney, has SCT made any announcements yet about retiring the remaining ARBOC minibuses (7101-7108/7114-7140) from fixed route service?

I'm glad they retired the legacy BART trains. The agency was not keeping them up, they were dirty, with the cloth seats sagging, cars noisy around turns, windows fogged, etc. I used to be embarrassed that the first experience that tourists to SF were getting as they board trains at the airport were these dirty trains. The new trains are so much nicer.

So, the Westchester County Bee-Line Bus will retire both the NABI-40s and the Orion V suburbans, leaving the elimination of the WM4C bus forever
@dodge1515
@dodge1515 19 дней назад
There aren't enough XDE40 Hybrids on this current option order to retire both at once. What will likely happen is the #500s will retire the rest of the 2008 Orion 5.501 Diesels and replace only the worst of the 2009 NABI 40 LFW 2G Hybrids. A future follow-up order will be needed to take out the rest.

There is a chance the buses Suffolk County Transit is getting would span multiple years. The initial wave of buses SCT is getting is to retire their remaining Next Gen Orion VII fleet. Leaving them in the same position as Bee-Line, MTA, NICE, and RIOC as far as having a 100% Orion-free roster
@dodge1515
@dodge1515 18 дней назад

@@dodge1515 I suspect the same. SCT's initial order would be used as test buses and weed out the worst performing buses. When it is time to order more, the rest of the buses shall arrive. I am sure SCT is in no rush to retire their remaining Orion's.
