Have only seen one storm like this in Ireland so far , I'm 45 so that's how rare these supercell storms are over here , thankfully it did pass right over us & took over an hour to pass I could still see lightning come from it well after it had passed , that was in Belfast 2003 the hail was marble sized , big hail for Ireland , your video was awesome thanx
heck of a storm. Havent seen one like that since july 2012!! Edmonton got side swiped all night. We didnt get a storm directly over us. Not surprisingly.

Time was from 2:22-3:22am Whats amazing is seeing a few of the same bolts in your video. We saw 2 amazing 2 superbolts ...one which was literally 2 full seconds of repeated strikes. There was one year we had a heat wave. Was 110 during the day and extremely humid. At night it was cooler but very very muggy out. you step outside and could barely breathe. We don't get that crazy of heat here much. but when we do we get it hardcore!
@@Mr21December2012 I would guess a power line was downed(by wind or lightning) causing an unstable current before the blackout(if you wiggle a plug out of the socket the lamp will go off and on as you pull). The power turning back on is due to the way redundant power grids are.
So you live just South of Edmonton? Well I'm from the U.S state of Ohio. More specific Columbus which is around the same size & we get pretty similar weather to were you live.
it's mostly the convenience of being near the airport. As for any new videos. A combo of recent youtube guidelines around storm chasing(endangering one self blah blah blah) and Bill C11(which restricts what I can post here and who gets to see it) has pretty much chased me off youtube. I'm currently house hunting east of Edmonton so I have a stable address on the cheap. My REAL house will be in of the following. Belize, Panama, El Salvador, Costa Rica or St Kits and Nevis. The reason being I will get a 2nd citizenship by doing so and will run my channel out of those countries free from severe restrictions on my content creation. I've met a few Canadian youtubers and we suffering esp us small fries we barely have much of a place as it is. Canada(and youtube in general) is being geared toward the big wigs with millions of subs and against smaller channels. When I search for any major event I end up with dozens of pages of Mainstream media and no videos for actual artists. If the news approaches you for footage I recommend you ask a large amount for the to use it. Since it will be on page one of RU-vid making hundreds of thousands on ads while your videos barely get a few views.
Oh yeah, I heard about Bill C11 I don't know if it's still a proposal or that it's actually going to go in effect. Many Canadians 🇨🇦 were talking about all over the internet. Like Bill C11 reminds me of the heavily restricted RU-vid ban in China 🇨🇳 & that only Chinese media can be watched. But I know it's far from that. But still, it's a big issue for all Canadians 🇨🇦.

Great video. I live in the UK and can only remember one occasion where the lightning was anything like that intense. I've experienced one or two thunderstorms when visiting my daughter in Calgary but nothing as intense. Taking of intense, that's a fair drop of rain.
It was so hot and humid that day, it did not cool down all night with this storm! The Dryline setups can just keep pumping out these storms one after the other! I watched this storm explode from IR satellite from just a cluster of cumulus clouds which were measured at just 800 feet above the ground south of Red Deer, and exploded into a Supercell thunderstorm reaching heights close to 70,000 foot storm tops with a base 800ft above the ground in a matter of 30 minutes, then as it moved north the supercell pushed out convergence causing other cells to explode, then it formed into a mesoscale convective complex with an embedded supercell mesocyclone! I honestly believe had it stayed an individual cell it would have become an HP supercell putting down a monster wedge tornado that would have been rain wrapped and would have had Edmonton metro dealing with another devastating tornado disaster! The sheer values were quite up there that day and night, but the Helicity did not really kick in till the overnight hours!

You can see the funnel and wall clouds really well in this near the start of the video. Such good footage. I've never seen lightning trace a wall cloud like that. It was like bright neon signs
