My favorite climbing rose is an oldie but a goodie, Cecile Brunner. I just love that twice a year it is absolutely smothered in dainty pink sweet scented blooms.

Thank you for another perfect tour of the amazing garden. I particularly love the daylily ‘Rocket City’, gorgeous color. Perfect view and atmosphere. I could just picture in my mind - afternoon tea 🫖 and some biscuits, fluffy scones and jam spread on a table in the center of the garden, with chairs partly pulled out beckoning you to come sit down and enjoy life...even if only for a few minutes 😊 ...come enjoy life with Catsky! But I do like the Campella that you're thinking of getting rid of, it's amazing how tall it grows, how profuse the blooms are... that color is just the nicest shade of blue purple! Perhaps a hand drawn picture of the borders which you are describing such as the long border etc. You are a very inspiring gardener. Thank you. PS Where does the name of your garden come from?
@GardeningatDouentza
@GardeningatDouentza 3 года назад
Good morning and thank you for your comment. The name Douentza comes from the town in northern Mali in Africa where I spent some time, years ago now. A place that may no longer be visited. For a map of the garden, take a look at this video. No sketching for me! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bbqFbEszbD4.html

Hi there and thank you for watching and commenting. I guess the name Douentza is both a name place and personal. We named the house/garden after Douentza in Mali, where we spent some time many years ago. You can't visit there anymore, unfortunately.

Your alliums look so much better than mine, but I think mine must need more sun, as they flop or better said, lay down with the rain. I love the Peruvian Lilies, but fear they would not be hardy here in Denmark. I may try the Indian Summer, however, as the orange type tend to be more hardy. Love your geraniums as well... one can never have too many of those.
@GardeningatDouentza
@GardeningatDouentza 3 года назад
Allium christophii does need full sun. I don't know about alstroemeria hardiness in Denmark. The RHS has Indian Summer hardy to -10, if that helps. Hope you can get away with it and happy growing.

It's so beautiful... I wish I could visit. You must love walking in it. I just want to add that I heard continus (smoke bush) should only be pruned when fully dormant otherwise it produces watershoots which make the plant very ugly. Have you pruned while dormant and still had this problem? I would love to know as I have a one year old smoke bush which I have never pruned yet.
@GardeningatDouentza
@GardeningatDouentza 3 года назад
Hello and thank you for watching and commenting. Cotinus is the divil. I have pruned it in early spring when dormant and a bit later and always get the same result.
@gardeningjunkie2267

@@GardeningatDouentza I'm not sure if it's available in Ireland, but Bonide makes a product called Sucker Punch. It's supposed to stop the tree from producing the hormone that makes it want to send out suckers (shoots). I might try that and see how it works.

Beautiful as always Rachel. Thank you. I've got a Euphorbia mellifera but it's never flowered. Do they need pruning at all? 💚💚
@GardeningatDouentza
@GardeningatDouentza 3 года назад
I think pruning of this euphorbia is more for aesthetics and perhaps size-control then anything. After flowering, deadheading neatens up branches but you haven't got there yet. Maybe yours is still young?

Hi, How do you prepare alstroemeria indian summer for the winter? Do you pull/tear them out or trimm them just above the ground? I know we have to pull them out when flowering is over in order to encurage to giving new shots, flowers... But how to proceed to be sure to see new flowers in the spring.... Many thanks.
