Welcome to my July planning session! Join me as I do a yearly check-in, reflect on my June goals, and set up new goals for July. You made an excellent point regarding routine sustainability. I started cutting certain routines AND goals for this very reason. Also, I found that I put unnecessary pressure on myself to carry out these routines and goals that weren’t THAT big of a deal to me, I was just doing them in the name of a reset routine. I think longer and harder about the “why” when I make these routines & goals now. Lol. Lastly, my June highlight wad designing a 1st birthday cake for my client and getting into grad school 😊. Thanks for the video and Happy Early birthday !🫶🏾✨

I'm so glad I'm not the only one that feels that way about routines. I didn't think about the pressure I put on myself with them, but that's a great point! I also love your thought on asking yourself "why" you do certain routines. I need to do some brainstorming on mine! Congratulations on your cake and getting into grad school! I'm sure the cake was beautiful and delicious 🎂 What are you studying? Thank you for sharing 💛✨

I started making an ideal routine, a push routine, and a bare minimum routine! It really helped me so that I felt like I was still completely a routine even if it was the bare minimum. It allows me to be kind to myself when I have a flare up!

I loveee this idea and have wanted to implement something like this! What is the difference between a push routine and a bare minimum routine?

@@slowdownwithsamantha for me, the biggest difference between my push and bare minimum routines has to do with the amount of energy (or spoons 😋) they require. The bare minimum for me includes feeding myself, taking my meds, and brushing my teeth. The push would have those tasks plus more like working on a hobby and doing my skincare routine or showering! Most days I fall somewhere in the middle but for the days my autoimmune disease is handing me my ass on a silver platter, it’s nice to still be able to say I did my morning routine!

For me, it’s making time for myself. Not in terms of exercise or reading but having unstructured time. It could mean watching a movie I have been wanting to see or shopping on the internet or sitting outside with a cup of coffee and listening to the birds with my dog. Just enjoying myself, who I am, and evaluating what I want to do and visualize my future.

I love this! I don't think we talk about how important it is to have unstructured time. This really fits in with what I was saying about falling out of my routines this past month. I think that was my body and mind's way of saying it needed some unstructured time. Thank you for sharing 💛

Totally agree that finding/making time for youtube is so much harder in the summer! I totally relate with the pressure/expectations when it comes to posting. I feel like we’re in a similar spot with learning to put ourselves first and take some pressure off 🫶🏼
