CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Alan (Robin Williams) rolls his last turn which ends the game just in time for him to escape the hunter's bullet.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Jumanji is a visually elaborate fantasy about an enchanted board game that opens a magical portal to a jungle universe. Two young children, Judy (Kirsten Dunst) and Peter (Bradley Pierce), discover the game in an abandoned home and suddenly are greeted by Alan (Robin Williams), an adult who has spent his life trapped inside the game since playing it at age 12. Alan's only hope for freedom involves finishing the game, but this proves rather dangerous, as Judy, Peter, and Alan find themselves running for their lives from huge rhinoceroses, evil monkeys, vicious lions, and other terrifying jungle beasts. Director Joe Johnston, whose special-effects background previously came to good use in Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, used groundbreaking computer imagery to simulate the thrills.

Best part of the original Jumanji was that we never knew what the Jungle was truly. We only have Alan's knowledge and the fact that we see none of it makes it a hundred times scarier. Still get chills when the elephant piece touches the globe and makes that ringing noise, Alan's whisper and the "Jumanji!"with his absolute joy and awe.
@angrypredator2704
@angrypredator2704 Год назад
Exactly. The scariest monster is the one we can’t see. I’ve always interpreted Jumanji as being a *nightmarish* ideal of what 18th century Europeans thought about Africa. Basically all the tall tales and exaggerated stories combined into a twisted idea of the continent
@phousefilms
@phousefilms Год назад
@@angrypredator2704 That's why l didn't love the sequels as much, as we were given a direct look at the world. Hell, the animated series version of Jumanji which the kids actually went into was a hundred times scarier and had some terrifying things(hell, just the nightmare fuel page of tv tropes about the series is scary enough.)

Okay, first of all, nobody is ever "the only one" to feel a certain why about something on RU-vid, so just cool it with that cheesy phrase y'all :P But anyway, you saying "everything" the characters endured makes me wish we'd seen a closeup of the carnivorous vines getting pulled back into the game because those things freaked the hell out of me as a kid and it would've been one of the most interesting things to see getting dragged back in, all...viney and stuff haha.

This scene always gave me scary chills as a kid because of the music, and the constant shots of the die rolling and the drums beating because I knew what was about to happen. Also, how does no one ever talk about how Sarah runs in front of the bullet for Alan, she really did love him and despite her constant state of fear through out the whole movie, that was the most bravest thing she did.

There's just something deeply disturbing about it being sucked into a jungle in a board game and staying there for thirty years. The beating drums coming from under the ground. It's just so so wrong. But that's what I absolutely love about it. I can't get enough of it.

When I was little this part use to scare me a bit, I guess because of the music that anticipates that Alan wins Jumanji. Also, now that I am older, I realized why Sarah tried to guard Alan from being shot. She figured that she let Alan down once with not rolling the dice and getting him out the game sooner when he got sucked into it as a kid and wasn't going to let it happen again now. That is not just love but the true friendship that Sarah always had in her heart for Alan. ❤

Just think of the new Jumanji as an action adventure that they just slapped the title onto. In many ways the games in both movies symbolize them: The new Jumanji is a video game - fast paced, visually powerful, but profane and empty. The old Jumanji is like the boardgame - archaic, paced, perhaps inconspicuous, yet undeniably powerful

The only true Jumanji movie. Watched this on Cassete and rewatched this here. It's amazing to see Robin William's act and how great he was, and the many other legends in the film, and the early start for some actors here. So sad to see that Robin Williams is no longer with us, after what happend years ago, but he'll always be a legend in our hearts, and one the greatest.This movie has it all, especially the plot and well told storyline, and it's sad they don't make movies like these anymore.If you haven't watched it yet, I recommend it, no joke, it's worth it. That enchanted board game has lots of danger, mystery, and adventure, but in the end, it always teaches its random players lessons. Plus, if the game is not finished, it makes a nasty impact on some people or a town.

This is my favourite scene in the movie! The only thing that kind of bugs me is that Not everything that comes out of the game is shown getting sucked back in. I get that the scene isn't supposed to be very long, but it would be cool if they showed all the animals in the vortex. Idk that's just me.

Can't believe I just saw this after years of watching this movie. The hunter is the same actor as his dad from the past, also a tough not very affectionate character like his father in the movie. After he says he's facing his fears, hunter and game using his father's saying, the hunter also congratulates him by saying he's 'finally acting like a man.' His fear and misunderstanding of his dad carried through into the Jumanji world and playing the game as the hunter, he won against the hunter, by facing him like a grown adult, and then made peace with his dad therefore in the past

The new one is such a bastardization of everything this movie stood for, Jumanji is not some happy-go-lucky place where a couple of teens go to hang out it is a place where people go to die it is dark. Cause Alan severe PTSD
@shavp
@shavp 6 лет назад
ironically the first movie was a bastardization of everything the book stood for The book was a lighthearted short adventure story about 2 kids tying to beat a magic board game before their parents return home ( it clearly was inspired by Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat ) this movie turned that into some dark bullshit about PTSD the new movie was not perfect but it is way closer to the spirit and tone of book the original this movie ever was

@@Post_Stall_Maneuver In my opinion yes it is. the second movie capture both the lighthearted tone and the spirit of the book correctly even though it was telling a completely different story the robin Williams movie on the hand turned Jumanji into some weird BS about Dark childhood trauma. it was definitely nothing like the book fun book I remember reading as A little kid

@@loonysanity9638 If we take as a basis my theory that the game pursues good goals and actually controls the game process by 90%, then perhaps the creatures of the game themselves do not fully know the outcome of their actions and only at the end remember the regularity of the entire gameplay. But I would really like another scene where the hunter really gets high from what kind of person Alan has become: Van Pelt: Finally, I can see with my own eyes how brave you have become. You've grown so much while I've been chasing you!🤩 That's great! **feels awkward and hesitates a little** It's a pity that this is the final, and I won't see you like this again, but I would like to😕. **reluctantly takes aim with a rifle**

I dont know if this is canon but I read somewhere in the internet that it was given by an african shaman as a gift to a european explorer who enslaved his tribemates. Little did the explorer know that the game was cursed with voodoo. When he went back home, he played the game and it lead to his insanity. Since then the game got passed down to each victim.

What are you talking about, this game is a real angel in the flesh. Thanks to her, Alan and Sarah became better, stronger and closer to each other, Bentley kept his job, and Judy and Peter's parents survived. Everyone learned their lessons, even if they didn't fully remember what happened. The game tests players, but always gives them a chance to give their best. The game makes the world a better place and calls lost people to its mysterious world. If I were the kids, I would hug a Board game and give it to those bullies to re-educate them, too. So today I, who have understood all this, thank Jumanji, the spiders, the plants, all the animals from the lion to the monkeys and van Pelt from the bottom of my heart for their hard work, and let them sleep in the darkness of the green sphere until their turn comes again. Glory to Jumanji and the players, its true conquerors.
