Otaru City, Hokkaido, suffered the largest snowfall in recorded history. This is a view of the snow dumping area at the base of the Central Wharf, one of the city's snow accumulation sites.
Perhaps because there had been so little snow up to that point, no rotary snowplows could be seen yet.
Nevertheless, a large CAT jumbo truck was still working frantically to melt the snow that had been dumped into the sea by mixing it with the seawater.
The occasional dump truck driver could be seen, but for some reason, they all seemed to be smiling or rather lively (lively?). I asked him if I could take a picture from here.
I asked if I could take a picture from here, and the transportation company agreed to allow me to do so.

This has nothing to do with the video, but even after the biggest snowfall in recorded history, there were still tourist buses lined up in a row and the area was as full of tourists as it was before Corona. Did tourism still take place as scheduled on this January 8, or even the day before when there was a heavy snow warning? Thanks to all those involved in inbound and tourism-related activities.
