The Big Pine Lake Loop is one of California's best hikes. This is a perfect Eastern Sierra's hike for anytime of year. Lakes 1-7 along with Summit Lake are great for swimming or camping. The glacial water is incredibly blue and I love coming back to this region time and time again.
I am a channel who hikes. I go to places like the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, Patagonia, Nepal, Mexico, Costa Rica, New Zealand, Colorado, Washington, Yellowstone. I have traveled to every country in the world.

Thanks for posting this! Last May I did the same loop. At that time Second Lake was looking very low which made me sad. I'm glad to see that lake levels looked better in Fall!

May I ask how many miles the hike is from where you park to the actual lakes? I was thinking of taking my young sons and wanted to know the distance and difficulty , thank you.

The first couple lakes will be a 14-15 mile day round trip and all the lakes will be 18ish. It has some climbing but is not super steep.

I love your channel it looks great what you do but dangerous . I live in England the last week we had a hot spell so the young ones when swimming in rivers and reservoirs 5 young men lost their lives by jumping straight in you know what does happen and it did.why you condone jumping straight into cold lakes I don’t know it’s unsafe ,I tell the youngs walk into the water get your body used to the temp then jump in and never do it alone always have someone watching.regards des
